It's great to pay off credit cards. I could look at that "Amount Owed = $0" for days.

However.

When the lender says that our FICO score dropped significantly since last fall...WTF? I'll tell you. I was late for a $16 payment on one of the cards. The one the dog spent the weekend in the hospital with last summer. I owed less than $600 on it. They suck getting statements to me. I missed one. My penalty?

I may have to come up with more of a down payment. How much is more? Can't say.

The only thing I have left is my tax payments. I was hoping not to have to make more than one, but if I have to come up with a significantly bigger down, I'll have to use those moneies to get into the house and make payments to the IRS. The state won't wait - they're so pissed I underpaid this past year, they want this years AND next year's taxes NOW. No negotiation.

I could see all the money I wanted to spend going bye-bye. No new floors. No new stove. Etc.

Barf.

I sure hope not.

Have they found Saddam's body yet? Right. Yeah. Next to the WOMD.

Hell, I'd dance too, if people were pointing guns at me.

Woo, Saddam's gone. I am so fucking surprised.

CA state taxes make the IRS lok like your favorite aunt. They grab money first and ask questions later. Good luck...

If any of your cards offer online payment options, take them up on the offer. Being able to pop over to mbna.com or whichever when I know they're gonna want a payment has saved my credit many times over. Amex doesn't even bother sending paper statements anymore, just lots of junk mail.

I'm using Citibank's web option - http://www.myciti.com

You can load just about anyone else's web info there onto one page.

I have a whole page of "Amount Owed - $0." Ahhhhh.....

Yes. They're like the Swiss that way. Over there, you don't pay, you go to jail. Instantly.

Now that's pretty cool. I remember what "amount owed: 0" used to look like, at least on the Amex. Alas, getting the rest paid is quite a sum and quite a ways off; a year of unemployment will do that to you. I just keep telling myself now it's all an investment and that once I get done with grad school I'll have the means to get rid of it.
