Thank you -
Dec. 27th, 2003 09:18 pmIt's nice to know my memory is not playing me false.
The French argue that they have developed one of the world's best security shields, having seen terror close up many times. A chain of bombings paralyzed Paris in 1986 and 1995; more recently the al Qaeda network has targeted French citizens abroad. (Registration required to click through - nothing major - do it.)
I was flying home from Switzerland in 1986 - I remember. Remember? France closed their airspace when they weren't happy with the security everyone else was providing them. They pissed off a lot of people then - for being too hard on terrorism.
Only goes to show how short an attention span the media actually has. Your neighborhood done a poison gas drill lately?
Once more, with feeling. The French are strange. They are often annoying. That's all.
In other news, the housework is done. Go me.
