I'm the eye of a hurricane again. I'm fine, I'm peachy - and all around me, people are having teh shit day of their lives. I'll be under my desk if you need me - and folks, I will be under that desk. Just look for me.

The state return showed up, unannounced. *blinks* Cool. I can pay for the chugga-chugga-work done on the Escort last week.

[livejournal.com profile] lolleeroberts is coming to dinner tomorrow! Me=happy. She's one of the very few people I know with a similar history to mine. [livejournal.com profile] riverheart is another one, so is [livejournal.com profile] kimonthejourney - we could have [livejournal.com profile] metaphorge over for tea and cookies with [livejournal.com profile] theferret and listen all night.

About what? Ah, that's a tale for another day.

But I am so looking forward to showing her around my neighborhood, hell - MAH HOUSE!

Today was the first day of feeling back to peppy again, so I kicked my ass AND Jim's and got the housework under control today. Yardwork and all. Two words - weed guts. Booyah.

Folks, I consider the internet to be nothing more than another method of communicating with other people. People made crank calls when only the phone was available - spam, bots and yutzballs are nothing new, just the environment has changed.

Reading message boards for everything under the sun has proven that sucky people post everywhere. Everywhere. It's amazing. It's the reason I like this interface so much - here, it's my place and if you don't behave, I can boot you. You want to discuss something with me? Please. You want to see how high I'll fry if you insult me? No you won't. Goodbye.

Another aspect of WTF today was talking with my programmers today - the majority of whom hail from India (yup, we didn't send the work to India, we brought the Indians to Us, dadgummit) and we were talking about pronouncing placenames in California properly. Like "La Jolla." It's not La Joe-la, BTW. San Jacinto is not San Tjasintoe - it's San HAsintoe (Spanish for Saint Hyacinth, which I always thought was cool. Who that was, dunno - but I love the flowers, go me). The poor guys had stumbled over that, one and all and we commiserated over not only having to learn English (not one of my guys speaks the same dialect in India, BTW - only common language is English), but having to learn Spanish as well. Then we began talking about Japanese and Hawaiian and German - and damn, I've gotten very broad in the linquistic department. Without noticing. *cocks head* I didn't even get to the little second-hand Finnish I know. Or my high school French.

I'd love to have a week of days like today, weather-wise. You could smell the salty air from the ocean driving towards the coast this morning, and there were breezes all day that kept the heat from bothering you.
