Making the rounds -
May. 9th, 2005 03:48 pmLast year, I took the advice of a friend, and found my housing for my Japan trip through a website called Tokyo Journal. Just for kicks and giggles, I went back and looked at it again.
Q2a: “How do you feel about the liberation of Iraq?”
This can only come from someone who thinks killing off tens of thousands of civilians is a good thing, as in good for oil prices. Instead of supplying an answer I usually direct such people to the corner where the insurance salesmen and investment advisers play the meishi game.
Q2b: “How do you feel about the invasion of Iraq?”
A-ha, the questioner is obviously European or anti-American, probably both. But be careful. At some of these parties undercover agents are making their rounds, either to entrap or recruit. So before answering I need to figure out which flag to fly. Not so easy when it constantly changes, sometimes even several times in a day. Thankfully I have my sources that supply me with the latest code. But, before giving the ‘word,’ it is good form to offer a greeting, like, “So how is ‘the firm’ doing these days, old chap?” Recruiter or entrapper, they usually get the message and take their trade to softer targets.
Gotta love ex-pats.
