Sep. 27th, 2003 08:30 amI know, I know - stars. The rabbit is supposed to see STARS.
Hello. The week ended much as it started. Broken.
The good news is that we have perl scripting mavens who can get us around what is broken. The bad news is I've had the meltdown with tech support and they still haven't gotten the problem back to their development team - and it's spreading. We're not the only system with the fault now, and it's cross platform both in OS and database.
But until they recreate it in tech support, development won't touch it.
I've had that going on. I've had recovery to do. I've had my normal stuff going on.
And the holidays are coming up and things are filling the callendar.
being_homeless did not get her ride out here this weekend - she is being advised to be patient. Okay. I smell Hollywood "your fifteen minutes are up and we're not going to tell you." I'd better be wrong. I'm local. I do have plans for her for Thanksgiving and Christmas but it's a surprise - nyah.
Next weekend,
nytshaed comes down and we do Knott's one night, Disneyland the next day. Sunday, we die at Mah House. (Not to be confused with Teh House in Austin.)
I want a trip out to Oak Glen for apples. I may get it tomorrow.
Today, we have a new mailbox to install, cat boxes to clean, birds to feed, yardwork to do - maybe unpack a box of books or two, organize the office....
*sigh* And have breakfast at IHOP. I sorely need the pampering.
Last night, I wanted nice. I thought I saw nice next to the Cost Plus Imports, so I directed Jim there - but a Japanese place caught his eye. Okay.
It was really Japanese. I am so glad I've listened to so much subbed anime this year - otherwise, I'd have been completely lost. We were the only ones speaking English - at all. And we quickly switched over and did quite well, thank you. Brad DeMoss needs to come down here - he'd be right at home.
Everything on skewers, grilled. Everything. Shitake mushrooms. Quail eggs (hard-boiled of course). Chicken meatballs (VERY good). Unagi. Sanma. You didn't get fried rice, you got steamed with this thick layer of ground, seasoned and cooked chicken in brown sauce. With chicken broth soup. And ice cream to finish. Sitting at the counter, we watched them cook everything on the menu.
It's called Monjiro - has a decided samurai kick-ass post-Meiji era motif - it's on Hawthorne just past Sepulveda near Lomita in the strip mall behind the Chinese buffet near Cost Plus Imports in Torrance. Cost was less that sushi, more than Spires.
I got nice. But once we finished, we came home and went to bed without any interruption.
And now, for breakfast and returning phone calls.
