I'm going to do something I do well - make the best of it. And actually, truth be told, there's a lot of good about this recall.

California has now gone on record saying loud and clear - you fuck it up enough, you can be fired. I just wish it was this easy to get rid of a sitting President, and I'm sure that feeling is being echoed all over the country.

Gray Davis is outta here. That's good. Bill Simon did not take his place. That's good. I could go through the State Legislature and pull some real winners who could have run on the Republican ticket - and they didn't replace Davis. That's excellent.

"If we can get television coverage of state government again, that will be a great benefit -- even if they're just covering Schwarzenegger making proclamations," said Nelson. "People in California, outside Sacramento, are almost oblivious to state government. They have very little idea what's going on."

This is good.

A pro-choice, pro-environment Republican who wants to find out where the money went - that's good. The fact he put a proposition on the 2000 ballot that passed with regard to after school programs for kids - with the kicker that the funds earmarked for these programs HAD to be spent on them and no other - that's good.

He can't repeal the car tax. That will be interesting to watch. It was put in place by his Republican predecessors. Let's see what he has to say about that -

Where did all the energy money go, Arnold? George Bush told us to deal with it ourselves, remember? Think you can get a straight answer out of them now?

He's married to one of the most famous cradle-Democrats in history - and it's clear her family is thrilled with this development. I haven't seen Seargent Shriver in years. This ought to be good.

Dumb as dead cats; but entertaining - oh, very entertaining indeed.

*yawn* I'm very tired.

It was a beautiful day, too. Was it your birthday, [livejournal.com profile] bigbigtruck? I hope the weather was good where you were today - it was here.

If anyone wants a DSL phone filter, do NOT go looking for one here abouts. Fergit about it.

It's been a day for bad news, unfortunately. Of the up-close and personal variety.

Feh.

Parting shots - you have a democrat in office, likely the staff will have worked with Gray Davis and be therefore suspect. You have a republican in office, likely the staff worked with Pete Wilson, and ditto. It's what there is on the shelf, folks.

And if you think Maria Shriver-Schwarznegger looks strange, you didn't see her parents at her age - I remember. She's looks pretty good for the gene pool. She has daughters, too. Funny how they haven't shown up for camera ops. Pity she hasn't availed herself of the plastic surgeon her husband used. Multiple times. No shit.

It's time for politics to be *fun* again - heaven help us. Time to decide what you want and be prepared to dig your heels in for it.
