Ugh

I feel like I spent the night coughing in my sleep. I really hate throat bugs - cos' you know once you get one, the healing process includes a period where you get rid of all that crap - I'm wheezing this morning and wondering if I should go to work because I'm in the strangling phase - so delightful to listen to.

Oh, BTW - that crush meme making the rounds? Go talk to [livejournal.com profile] mactavish - all that personal information you fed it? The nozzle who maintains the database that runs the meme is keeping the information and is selling it to whoever wants it.

Uh, yeah. Special.

Now the train operators and mechanics have gone on strike. Deeelightful. It really is the seventies again. What's next, the truck drivers?

Ugh

The Two-Income Trap: Why Middle-Class Mothers and Fathers Are Going Broke

Presenting carefully researched economic data to support their arguments, the authors contend that, contrary to popular myth, families aren't in trouble because they're squandering their second income on luxuries. On the contrary, both incomes are almost entirely committed to necessities, such as home and car payments, health insurance and children's education costs. When an unforeseen event such as serious illness, job loss or divorce occurs, families have no discretionary income to fall back on.

A nice companion book to this would be Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America

If you think unions are a thing of the past, you've got another thing coming. It was societal stressors like these that birthed them in the first place. They still suck? Imagine how much louder the suck can get -

It's such a tweak. Normally, I think Libertarians are pretty cool - but when I saw this, the first thing that went through my head was - "fuuuuuck - they're right!"

I still think Libertarians are pretty cool.

And this icon still works far too well.

There isn't any political party that taken to the extreme, can't find a villian to support.

This icon needs friends.

[Poll #191747]

Keep in mind, it's the bad guys we're after - and I'm not after just one kick-ass Republican theme. *scratches head* This one is going to take some thinking - and looking at a lot of the books in the library.
