Driveby wits -
Feb. 25th, 2009 01:26 pmI'm looking at the new crop of pictures and the idea is making itself known that this little guy is going to come live with me (and Jim) and never leave. I remember what that felt like when Jim showed up. We still pass the airport on occasion, Jim mentions he's not getting on a plane and I cheer. Still.
These are little echoes of that, but still there.
I've got some pediatrician appointments to make - and I need to nail the train travel from Taipei to Tainan (and to Pingtung, if at all possible), but the rest I think is done. I've gotten my phrase books, looked at them and just maybe - I might be able to figure this out.
I've sent a ping to a former co-worker. No answer. Trying not to take it personally and rethink everything that led me to leave former gig. They thought one thing. I knew another. There was nothing inbetween - and definitely, now there never will be. Gotta get my head around that and not take it personally. I left because there was nothing left of a working relationship. The end. (Why do I think relations outside the office would be any different? That's rhetorical. What I want and what I've got often don't mate up so well when it comes to this.)
I cleaned out the piggy bank for IHOP last night. Best I could do. Place was busy, but still a ton of fun and the pancakes were teh tasty. I keep forgetting how good just plain pancakes can be. If I had to make a steady diet of them, probably not so much.
In the dumb ass games category, I spent more than a few hours last night TT with AC:CF trying to get all the Pave furniture on the 23rd. You have to collect three pieces of candy of the same color that this ow-my-head peacock calls out...and you get the candy by corralling a neighbor outside their house and winning a game of chance. (Ye ghads, if I never play a game of 'mouth soccer' again - no problem. @_@) And also - chance if you get the right color as well. Most of the time. And then I got a bunch of duplicates, trying for that Last Piece I'm missing. I understand you can drop the candy on the ground and catch ants that way. I plan to put that theory to the test REAL SOON. Guess why.
Sims3? Not an early adopter. Unless someone tells me they have a utility to bring over Sims from Sims2 - I'm just fine with my current time waster, thanks. The last expansion pack brought over something amusing, that I haven't heard anyone mention yet. Vampires + vending machines + cold weather = hysterical. You get vending machines with Apartment Life - so I added them, plus a coffee bar to my Gothier Green Lawns (because I have an abundance of Knowledge aspired Sims who want to see ghosts and that's just how I roll). Last time I checked, it was Winter on that lot, so anything showing up outside the buildings is wearing default outerwear. Including the vampires, which I haven't touched since I installed Nightlife. (Nope, Donna don't vamp. Not even in Sims.) So they have these terrifically cheesy vampire clothes...that spin out into raincoats and boots outdoors - but they still walk around like something out of Plan 9 from Outer Space. Bad enough - but wait. When they use the vending machines, they approach it with the arm up over the face, stalk the damn thing...then drop the pose...hmmmm, whadda I want...vend a snack...and then saunter off as they approached after transferring the bag to the non-raised hand. Bleh, bleh! I hide my snacks from choo! Bleh!
I'm easily amused, but I thought of
kiyone immediately. I wonder in what world vampires eat macadamia nut cookies and chocolate peanut clusters anyway.
I know when a witch is on the way to a community lot. My whole game locks up for thirty seconds while the graphics load. Oh well. That's not news with my game. My loads take up to thirty minutes at this point. I blame the number of sims plus the amount of custom content I have.
You want me to reduce this all down to three bars and total strangers. Nah. You go first, Indy.
Your week, already in progress.
