I did mention Jim is getting increasingly broody. Not moody. Broody.

No really. Watch who zeroes in on infants and little baby things.

It would be something to want kids and be female.

It has got to suck to want kids and be a guy.

With a practical wife.

Swap?

Yep sucks buckets wanting kids and your spouse not sharing the desire. Its been a very difficult choice to choose the marriage over children. Life hasn't dropped in my lap a widower with kids where I would have to choose apples to apples...yet.

If you both agreed to no kids before the marriage then its very different then one changing their mind after the marriage. Its quite the deal breaker.

Oh, I'd love a dozen kids. Really.

However, I know what my limits are - and until certain tasks are completed (one of them balancing the responsibilities equally and consistently) such as unpacking and organizing the house, let along keeping it clean and tidy (clean is there - tidy is coming along) - I can't do it all myself and know better then to try. Hence, practical.

The financial aspect - ah, another ball of wax. Thankfully, I don't expect to bring up Muffy or Biff anytime soon, so I'm not going to want the baby wipe warmers (or anything else equally stupid).

Jim just looks at babies and wants one. Somehow, that's not wrong either. He's exceptional with small children and babies, and just gets better as they get closer to puberty and adolescence. He's one of those who should have had a dozen already.

Hee. I tell him we switch gender roles on a regular basis and he disagrees. Do you?

Outside of my having a stereotyped male characteristic to watch 20 programs at once any time I have been gifted the clicker we don't even bother looking at the roles. Its always been we have just chosen whose better at what duty and that person does it. The end goal is for us to spend as much time as possible together not equality. Early on our motto we found our motto to make the marriage purr was each person has to give 60/60. For us its hasn't been about division of labor equally as found in a sibling relationship its more of a construction site where every possible material is applied where necessary in order to build something greater for both to admire.

You definitely need to get the kittens. It'll take his mind off of kids for a bit.

As for his brooding, one swift kick in the buttawks may help.

Well, we took our cat to go see what she would do with kittens.

She didn't totally freak out, but close enough. We're going to have to be ready with a whole separate environment for a new cat and today, we're not.

There will be others. Two really cute college girls were thinking of taking all three of them while we were there. Oh, they much of the kitties. And the kitties were making much of them. Major purrfest.

Just an FYI, I've never seen a fully-grown cat NOT freak out at the sight of kittens that weren't theirs. Our old cat hissed, spit, swatted the new kittens once upside the head and then hid under the bed for two days when we brought two kittens home. By three weeks later, they were getting on fine.

Hi,

I was wondering how you were able to customize your 'comments' page. I've only seen you and KZ's journals doing that so far ?_? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Go to http://www.livejournal.com/customize and choose the S2 formats - I'm using the component format with the Blue colors with one modification - I've replaced the background with a .gif file served on our own webspace.

Pretty nifty, huh? EASY as pie.
