Don't ask. I got a list as long as my arm and it has more than one traffic accident involving either an SUV or a drunk on it.

Test bed server died at 3:30 PM, taking my day's work with it.

Came home and discovered *something* has totally pimped over IE on the good machine. Bought and installed Norton (finally) and it's scanning - and yes, checked email and gee, all those emails with files attached that I've been happily deleting all week were infected - who'd have guessed? Gimme a break. I know who sends me what. If I don't know you, out it goes. Without opening.

And oh yeah, opening IE showed me that indeed, there was an ad-loader working in the background. That was worth the price of admission. DIE.

Is it me, or does Blue Gender sound like the lamest anime ever dubbed over? I'm in the other room. It sounds funky. Like el stinko.

When Norton finishes scanning, I might reinstall IE. Or the whole OS. Lame ass software. *kicks*

I gave up on my own box, finally settling down to reinstall the dratted thing. I think the most frustrating part was reinstalling the software I used on a continuous basis but had taken for granted all this time.

But it was worth it, the system is running faster than it has in... 3 years? Yes it lasted that long without anti-virus software. But now I have a really nifty program, having still not resigned myself to one of the scanners.

Tiny Firewall. It's frustrating at times, but it tells me everything that happens on my computer.

Norton has a nifty program called Internet Security that includes Anti-Virus (my absolute favorite - I'm just too cheap to buy it more often) - and it kicks ass.
