From whole lotsa folks - [livejournal.com profile] yendi and [livejournal.com profile] mactavish in particular -

Top 10 Non-RIAA associated CDs available from Amazon.com.

This is already good. Then I begin to drill a bit.

Whadda know. Both the new Diane Schuur and Bette Midler albums are RIAA-free. If you haven't found this out from my journal, both of these projects were produced by Barry Manilow. His label, Arista Records (the one that releases endless big fat hits collections) is a RIAA member - his new label, Concord Records - is not.

And the work he has done with those guys is easily his best. He shopped around a long time before he found a place to go do stuff he wanted to do (compare the "Ultimate Manilow" album released by Arista with the "Here At the Mayflower" album released by Concord for a clue) - no surprise they won't join RIAA.

That's my boy. I'm really glad to see him so busy.

I knew there was a reason I loved Matador Records.

I've heard bits from Steve Winwood's latest (produced on his own non-RIAA label "Wincraft") and have liked it a lot.

Will be acquiring it as soon as funds become available.=)

And, yeah, RIAA sucks.

It's a good thing his new record label isn't a member of RIAA. I think he'd lose business if he were.

A very useful link! Thanks for the info. It was nice to see that the last June Carter Cash album is RIAA-free as well...
