Things I'm looking forward to -

kyburgHaving more than two hours at a time to do maintenance on my laptop. Or to do anything involving my laptop.
Grabbing at least six 'This Week in Hawaii' magazines from the airport, tearing out the free coupon goodies with purchase at Hilo Hatties and making them COUNT. (Yes, a lot of you are getting chocolate mac nuts. Brace yourself.)
Being able to work on convincing kid that if we aren't directly attached at the hip, we are still nearby and he can do things that make him happy without direct involvement. If that's me sitting at the laptop and him coloring in a book or watching a DVD on his own? Maybe he'll develop a talent for watching the mongoose outside the patio door. Or I can give him the digital camera and turn him loose. Let's see if we can do something about the 'you really CAN be out of direct line of sight and be okay' that isn't working right now.
I need to pack some yarny projects. I haven't done that yet.
I am going to hunt down as many mai tais as I can.
I suspect we will be waking at 2 AM. Instead of watching the sun rise and set, I may actually be able to have *gasp* late nights! Of course, all the lights are off and the sidewalks rolled up by then - but still. STARS STARS STARS.
Being able to listen to the radio in the car without wanting to kill some right-wing nutjob.
Papaya for breakfast. Fresh pineapple that wasn't picked green and shipped by plane.
Replacing all the orchids I lost that summer to 113 degree temps on the patio.
I've already contacted a friend I made back in '99 to go trick or treating with Xander - and she's introduced me to someone with three kids who will take us with them when they go, in town - and my kid sits age-wise, right in the middle of hers. A FRIEND WHO GETS IT. I'm still pinching myself. (But then again, she raised three herself, two through college growing coffee plants and one with Down's Syndrome. Oh, and makes a living doing art. So looking forward to this.
We're going to be there long enough to see the Kona Coffee Festival open and do the artwalk. *fistpumps*
Thrift shopping. OMG this is one of the BEST THINGS.
