Hello, my name is Mud - *fwomp*
Oct. 17th, 2003 02:49 pmIt is not cool to have the Con Crud and not have attended the Con. Ug.
I'm fine if I don't move or say anything.
Yesterday, we finally got Hiroshi to the vet to be altered. The preferred euphemism has been "to have his powderpuffs removed" but I think the vet tech had a better one. Somebody "picked his pockets." Whatever - but thinking I needed to quarantine him again was unfounded, it seems - Aichan almost let us catch her sleeping within six inches of him last night. This might just be the ticket to finally getting peace in the house again. She's been scared to death of him.
Jim just got his paystub, and it now reflects his newest rate of pay - yup, he got another raise. It's official. He now makes more an hour than I do. And compared to what he was doing in St. Louis in 2000 before he got here, it's a return on investment of over 240% - anyone looking for work might consider that.
He couldn't find a job there. He comes here, where there's a shortage and ohmighad, it's amazing. He was reduced to tittering like a schoolgirl for five minutes staring at the check stub. We called the mothers. They were suitably impressed.
That's my boy.
He's turning 40 next March. We've also decided to go to Japan and try to be there for it - if we get lucky, it'll be cherry blossom season. Anyone want to join us? We could put our own tour together - and no, I don't plan to spend a whole lot of time in Tokyo!
I'm also turning 43 in November and this year, my birthday falls on a Friday. I want a party. But where do I go for it? Maybe that will be the weekend we spend in San Diego - we've been wanting to do that for a while, now.
Anyone going to Zebra-Con, say hi to Karen for me - I turned 21 at one of those conventions, oh so long ago -
Time to finish up and go home - I want a nap. Badly.
