Your Wait Time is 15 Minutes
May. 28th, 2002 12:49 pmIs it Live? Or is it Matrix?
Reminds me of when Cliff made me watch Poltergeist. I had nightmares for weeks. But that was after we went out, walked the three blocks to the 7-11 to get drinks after we saw the film. Oh, yes. I remember that. It was dark out and I jumped 50' straight up every time some dog barked.
I hate being made to watch something. I should flat refuse, I guess. But Jim is such a good sport, so I sat down.
*meep*
I'm really disgusted with one thing, though. I'm 174 pounds. Now, if I was over 6' tall, no big deal. But I'm a little short for my weight.
Also, since I stopping gaining height at 22, it's a big delta - I only weighed 120 then. There is a huge obesity factor in my family - I have a great-grandmother who was reportedly bedbound and over 500 pounds. I have an aunt who is over 300, easy - and Sis is pushing 250 if I'm any judge. I'm the smallest female I'm related to. Take Mom out of it (though she's been as heavy) as she's been on the diet from hell since heart attack.
But I've been working on the gym thing for almost a month, and haven't budged. So I called my doctor. The BP numbers weren't really all that good either, and if I don't drink a horse trough full of water, I retain fluid and I'm getting really pissy about it. (No pun intended, but I wish I really was....pissy, that is.)
I swear, this is one of the blessings I've been able to claim since Cliff passed away. My doctor is my best friend. No, don't be concerned about it, those numbers really aren't that high...a sensible diet and exercise and I'll see you in June. You might talk to a dietitian, your gym might be able to refer you...what's that? Oh, I see. No, I wouldn't go there if they want you to spend THAT much to do so.
Yesterday, I spent an hour on bikes, cross-trainers and treadmills. My legs hate me. Today, I plan to walk to wherever lunch is. Problem is, lunch is likely to be terrible in terms of "sensible." Like cheeseburgers and fries. Deep-fried-in-greasy sauce Chinese. Ribs and deep-fried potato wedges. Oh, for a salad bar!
So what was lunch? Half a cheeseburger and a handful of fries at Fatburger. But I love Fatburger for their jukebox. Gimme a dollar, and I got some juicy, old-school R & B while I commit dietcide. Marvin Gaye (God, I miss him), Ray Charles, Santana and for some variety, Eagles. Not to mention a cut or two off the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.
All that, and a side of fries.
Not that I ate them.
I then trotted over to Coffee Bean and got the biggest non-fat latte they make. I should be good to go until I leave today.
I'm going to Tennessee Friday! Everyone else has a really good con to go to, and I'm on my way back to keep a promise. Weather forecast is for RAIN. I love sucky driving conditions in a strange place, driving a strange car. Oh, yessss.
But the dog. Oh, poor dog. Can't leave her home, can't impose on any family to check in on her. So -- we checked into boarding her. It's in Crestline. That's 1.5 hours from the house. We'll take her there day after tomorrow and pick her up Tuesday. *weeps* The cost is more than anything else in the whole trip list. It's guilt from leaving her alone day after day...I think.
Well, the laundry is done.
Writing wasn't even attempted. I think I'm going to need at least two hours to refresh my memory, find where I left off and then blaze away.
Problem is, I do that best when alone. Jim likes what I do - sometimes too much, I fear. I grew up with a little brother who liked to look over my shoulder and make fun of me, so even now - I do best with my back to the wall. But Jim wants to see it as soon as it hits the platen...*chuckles* Love having such an appreciative audience.
Forms, forms, forms. Forms for the dog, forms for SPP, 401K...forms for customers to start EDI, clarify who they should call when they have EDI problems...maps, yadda ya ya ya....
I am getting my bathroom ceiling fixed. As soon as I get a hold of the contractor. Allstate is a wonderful thing.
Other random nonsense includes a vinyl pressing of the soundtrack for A Chorus Line, and two books I read as a child - both of them look like library copies, heavily marked up. More on them later.
I have more friends than I can show in 15 entries - go me! Does anyone know how I can change the default to show more in one pass?
