The 80's!
1. What were you doing in 1980? in 1989?
1980 - Finishing up my A.A. in Liberal Arts in San Bernardino, ending one of the loneliest years I've ever known. Also, awaiting my sister's wedding in August of that year. And yeah, I watched Reagan get into office and went into mourning for 12 years following.
1989 - Getting settled into the house I'm now trying to sell, working at Coca-cola after getting booted out of the entertainment industry by the Writer's Strike of 1988. I'm also recovering from my last big depressive illness, have my hair permed and generally look ridiculous. I still have some of the clothes and the jewelry - oy. I actually wore this stuff to work. Dress for Success, my ass.
2. Who was your favorite Musical Artist in the 80's?
George Gershwin. No, sorry. I guess I have to choose someone from that era, right? I really loved Boy George back then. Flock of Seagulls, Genesis and Elton John, too.
3. What 80's fad scared you for life?
Reaganomics. And the whole "Dynasty" thing - if you ain't rich and evil, you ain't shit. *brrrrr.*
4. What event of the 80's had the longest effect on your life?
Marrying a Type I diabetic in 1985.
5. What was the best part of the decade?
Working at Stephen J. Cannell Productions while Wiseguy, 21 Jump Street and Stingray were in production. Working in advertising when Bob Hope was still making commercials. Red Foxx, too.
