kyburgToday was Doctor Day. Remember last fall I went in to see one of my best friends? And he wanted to see me again in six months?
Okay, so I stretched it a bit. Nobody wants to see how high my blood pressure probably was the week before we moved out. Just nod.
What's likely to raise my blood pressures? Being inside a car, for one. That's definite. Discussing my medical history, another.
When I'm so tense I start going up on the names of my team at Cedars, I'm tense. But my buddy understands. We've known each other since 1985, after all.
I got stuck for blood - but I got the hypertensive tag taken off my chart as we've identified where it's coming from, and it's not intrinsic.
They've repainted Beverly Center again - a nice set of sands and beiges, this time. It's nice. Jerry's Deli has taken down the "Get Well Soon" sign, though. That blows. You used to be able to look out the windows at Cedars and be greeted with this huge dorky smiley face and that wish -
It's still medical care to the rich and famous...with the same admission criteria as the county facilities. You can't pay, no problem. It's a hospital run by foundation - that's charity, folks. They only turn people away when they have no room left for patients...and I don't know when that's been the case.
He wants to see me next year. That'll be fine.
My Father thinks I am: Not a clue. He was dead before I was 7 and a suitable replacement never showed up.
My Mother thinks I am: Amazing...and gullible. In the same breath.
My Grandpa thinks I am: See the Father answer. In this case, both were gone before I was born.
My best friend/girlfriend thinks I am: Wonderful. Practically perfect in every way.
