Now that went far better than expected.

Time for a reality check. Does anyone find me capricious, mercurial or unpredictable? Madly mood-swingish?

Believe it or not, I really do try to keep it straight and level-headed. Goofy, yes. Light-hearted and open-minded, of course. As kind and caring as I can manage....always.

My sister is a titled professional - in social work. And I can't predict if she's going to jump sideways today - or ignore me entirely. Or - something else. Gah. I can't trust her.

So while I am enjoying the one-on-one attention I got yesterday, somewhere in the back of my mind I'm chalking up "don't get used to it." Fuck. *throws up hands* Is it any wonder I don't trust women! Because you know when I want that attention, it won't be there - she'll be too busy and need to redefine her priorities, etc. and hang up the phone after being very abrupt and make it clear as crystal that on that day, I am no priority of hers.

But when she wants me, I always make time. It's my choice. Ah, one wonders if setting an example is ever worth it.

I just really find it uncomfortable to manage a relationship with someone who has known me so long and still hasn't gotten It.

At least the French-bashing has ceased. Oh, that's right. None of the friends were there - it was family only. *snaps fingers* That's got to be part of it.

She was always her most cruel when she had an audience to impress. Okay, mystery solved.

Also, we are hosting Thanksgiving here this year. Turkey, all the trimmings and paper plates! *laughs* Maybe. Even I can't see that - we'll have to designate dishwashing.

But it means no travel over the holidays for us this year - which is a good thing, fiscally. But Jim really needs to see his family - I can sense it. He misses his brothers and his mother and he's so far away, it means a big trip for anyone. We'll set out the feelers early this year and see if they can come out here for Thanksgiving. That would work.

Brought shoes for the family - four out of four total hits. Wow. And I did all the shopping. Total cool. Getting better at this -

Was able to wind down even BIL's mother - who has it worse than anyone, she'll be happy to explain to you. Yup. Even talked her down. And had to go to IT rumblings with BIL to continue the conversation, which he appreciated. Of everyone, he and I have the most similar professions - he does product management in stores, which is a slick term for setting shelves using computers. But in doing that, he uses IT technology to manage retail items - which in doing EDI Administration, so do I. We geek well together.

Both Jim and I played our gameboys with the kids and they took a picture of all four of us geeking together on the couch. Sharing Torchick eggs and fishing for Feebass.

Came home tired, slept like the dead.

Today - we drop off birthday presents and Jim goes to work and I work on the house.

And so it goes. The beat goes on.
