I need a home.

This is a coworker's foster furchild - feel free to cross-post.

The proposed home he was going to have in Arizona fell through and he's running out of time.

Los Angeles County has a policy of euthanizing all pit bulls that are presented to them. It's not an option.

Mark will answer all comers - check out the application he's built!

Squeeeeeeeeeee!

Some of my favorite dogs are pit bulls. I hate the "kill them all" policy. Yes, some -- perhaps a disproportionate number -- are aggressive, but plenty of cities and non-profit rescue organizations do fine adopting them out, as long as they get to know them first and find out how dependable they are.

If this were 5 years from now and we owned a house and didn't have a dog already I'd snag this puppy for Rey and I no second thoughts. My first and only dog to date was a female brindle brown pit bull named Princes Leia (give me a break, I was 4 when I got her). She was one of the most mellow and caring dogs I've ever known. Total sweetheart, all she wanted to do was to have someone's feet she could lay at in the evenings and someone to throw sticks for her to chase. She never fetched, just chased. She wasn't the smartest puppy out there, but she had the biggest heart.

*sighs* I will also resist the temptation to fill the application out on behalf of my sister who's been asking for a dog for two years now.

Dammit!

I want. What a sweetie...

Please try contacting L.I.F.E. Animal Rescue in Thousand Oaks, CA - they don't normally take Pits but they had a lot of luck with Arlo TPBOL and they may take him in if you can't find him a home!

Mark says he's contacted all the rescue groups he knows - I'd drop him a line through the website if you have their contact information, just in case he doesn't have it.

Awwwww, what a sweet face.

A paper here in Toronto just published an article about how there is a huge percentage of abandoned pit bulls in the Humane Society, and they have real trouble adopting them out because of their image problem. Meanwhile they can be incredibly sweet dogs if cared for properly.

Good luck with your search for a home. It would be a real shame if somebody wasn't able to adopt him.

He's a *very* sweet dog, and I live out in the country with a setup that's ideal for dogs. And I already have two dogs.

I have to limit my total number of dogs, because I'm going to be breeding Tollers one of these days. I told [livejournal.com profile] charlesks that I would try to limit it to five dogs.

Dogs live in the house most of the time, and sleep in the bedroom on the floor. When we are home, they are in. When we are out, the dogs are in the (fenced) yard. Dogs get to run around loose under strict human supervision on our 5 acres, but they have to be voice-trained.

I hesitate to bring a pit bull into a retriever household, though, especially with an intact, rather dominant male show dog around. Let me know if Mark doesn't find him another home, and I'll see what my breeder and my fiance have to say about Pong.

They are a *very* small shelter, though, and I don't know how much room they have right now.

Still. They may have resources to get his info out that we don't have, right?

Mmmm... even though I don't have the time, money, or room for another dog, I do hope someone adopts him... he's just too cute to be put down.... *does a double-take and looks at self in disgusted interest* I can't believe I just said something was cute... Egads. I'm falling apart on myself... next thing you know I'll be screaming "KAWAAAAAIIII!"

AWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! That's it, I *haaave* to beg Miwa and Railstar to let me keep him!! Red Nosed Pitties are SO SWEEET!!! <3 <3 <3 A couple of weeks ago my sister-in-law and I rescued an injured Red Pittie and she was the most adorable thing! She was even good around the kidlings (who are both under 5). Sadly, because of the extent of her injuries and not having enough to pay for treatment, we turned her over to a no kill vetrinary hospital in town. They're good folks, and assured us that she will get a good home. In fact, one of the other customers there was willing to claim her :)

This is a SIGN I say!! I am meant to follow in my aut's footsteps and raise Pitties!!

This dog needs a home, deserves a home...we have a pit bull, and the ONLY danger you risk in being near her is a Drive-By-Licking.
Pit Bulls are NOT vicious, just more aggressive...and they CAN be trained.
Such a sweet pup, I hope a home is found!

Fill out Mark's application - by all means, if you're interested.

Sadly Dad's not much of a dog person. He spends alot of his time chasing other peoples dogs out of his meadow. He doesn't want something that's going to chase the deer that come through the yard.
