Having come to the conclusion a couple of weeks ago, that if by chance I really blew it driving home and didn't make it there alive, Jim would be in deep sauce - we needed a mortgage insurance policy. Something I didn't have with Cliff - and as chance would have it, a reputable company had stuffed my mailbox that day.

So I had him come by and sell us a policy.

Two places I can't go without scaring people now - first-aid classes at the Red Cross, and discussions about financial planning with agents. I know too much.

The first quote was a third of the house payment. No, not today. But - we did find something that is going to cover the need and still be in the ballpark. (BTW, if you want me to explain the benefits of permanent over term life insurance, and the options you can choose - I'll be happy to s'plain it all to ya. First off, buy no more than you need to pay off your existing debts and bury you. Simple enough, neh? You don't have kids, you don't need anything more. And you can be buried very nicely for less than two grand. Trust me on this.)

I'm going to rest easier tonight. Why yes, yes I will. No matter what happens, Jim is not going to get smacked by the financial obligations I've gotten us both into this year. The house is nice, the house is wonderful - and alone, neither of us could afford it. This evens the playing field.

But the agent was a total bonus. He'd just discovered Battletech...and lurves anime. I got three bona fide "I'm not worthy" homages when he saw the two bookcases full of anime DVDs - and I promised him we'd sit down and watch some when he comes back with the final contract. A Mormon, he'd spent two years in New Zealand, speaks near fluent Rakahangan and is entirely a game duck. He thinks as little of CNN and Fox as I do. But then again, he'd lived outside the country for more than a week - you do that when you've gotten that kind of perspective.

It took three hours to get through something you can do in 30 minutes. We had a wonderful time.

Want to know more, ask me. You live in California and have a need for any kind of insurance product, I'd recommend him - the company he works for is one of the few that never screwed me when I had them as a health carrier.

Today, I knocked down so many of the projects that had been bugging me all weekend, it was good to go home. Going to dive into it again tomorrow - how does it go? Just keep swimming? That works.

My old invite codes got me extended iconage until April of next year. I feel the need for scanage. Be afraid.

Everyone got their scary childhood photos ready?
