I'm done -
Dec. 7th, 2003 09:39 pmYou can have Christmas now, I'm all done with it.
I've got six new strings of outdoor lights - in addition to the two we already had - that's eight, last time I checked - and none of them work. They worked while we put them up and then piff - nothing. I've called my electrician - and it's dame lame to call someone over stupid ass Christmas lights. But I'm out of things to try.
The tree is decorated. Yay me. Last time I checked, this was something you looked forward to doing with somebody else. I put on the DDR project disk and made the best of it. Hon, watch the floor when you come in and don't walk on it barefoot - I broke a ceramic ornament, and haven't swept the floor. I'll do that when the boxes go back out to the storage room. And they can go whenever you have time.
I decided against getting ambitious decorating this year - we got ambitious outside and it's not gone well.
The tree is up and decorated and looks pretty damn good. So help me, if a cat does anything more interesting than chew on the lower branches, I may just make muffs out of it.
Gathering addresses for Christmas cards is WORSE than herding cats. I'm still working on it. Need to find the labels - crap, I've found everything else.
Found out who sent the Amazon.com boxes - they're from older brother who I adore without much cause to. The one I won't see next weekend because they're sick. Bah.
Our new neighbors are moving in right now - the U-Haul showed up after it got dark and began raining. I know their pain, intimately. I sure hope they decided to park that beast and unpack it in the morning.
I hate Sunday nights when Jim works with the fire of a thousand suns. I might as well plan on doing everything by myself. Every. Fucking. Thing. Only consolation is I'm sure he's having as much fun himself - it's raining. Do you know how stupid California drivers are when you add water? Then recall it's peak Christmas shopping season - riiiight. He's so fucked.
The Stats here in Redondo Beach does what the Stats in Pasadena does - day after Christmas, EVERYTHING half off. That's wrapping paper, lights, decorations - the whole enchilada. Doors open at 4:30 AM. I'll have coffee. Stats rocks - they also discount the "normal" stuff as well, and they stock craft stuff deep, reaaaaaal deep. I saw stuff there today that made my thumbs ache in happy memory. I was good. I only got what I couldn't function without -
I'm going to be better prepared for half the cost next year.
I'm also mopping floors and vaccuming the house tomorrow night, no danger.
I really would have liked some time to write. Yeah, and I heard yah about the ice water. Go away. I am really tired and very fed up.
