All told, a very good day -
Jan. 8th, 2004 09:18 pmHow good?
I talked to one of my old college professors today - I owed him at least a verbal "thank you" for all the good things he stuffed into my head when he had me in his acting classes back in 1978 - namely, how to get and keep a job, and how to get better ones. How to freaking survive when you couldn't work the Dream Job. He said it was a nice way to begin 2004 - shit, I owe him. Big time. There is a whole post about him to be written, believe me.
I got invited to go to the Cabo fishing gig - if it happens. That's never happened before and it speaks volumes.
I thought someone had pissed on our car early this morning and even went so far as to call the Sheriff's Department and ask for some increased patrols - only to find out Jim had emptied out a can of oolong tea onto the driveway. *smacks forehead* Well, me being stupid is preferable, I guess.
Employee stock purchase was veddy veddy good to me. Much more than I expected. It'll replace the Christmas bonus that didn't bonus -
VERY proud of
bigbigtruck for standing up for something wonderful, and succeeding in saving it. And seeing
the_boyfriend getting a neato gig is just icing. And
snackpants, you're supervising people? Man, I told you - you have a kickass resume and I am so glad to see you using it - you go!
And
ceolyn? Talked to Sis this evening - yes, she remembers your aunts as expected and was impressively squeaky. Much squeeing. Most entertaining. Life continues to be interesting - have you been able to confirm whether they went to the reunion or not?
...and you've been seen for that headache, right?
Neverwinter Nights kicking my ass - when I can get to the computer - I'm posting from dear old Legacy as Jim's playing Civ III right now.
Tomorrow is payday - and Friday - and Jim's older brother (yeah, the one who got nailed last fall) is going to be in town over the weekend. I'm also going back to the old neighborhood for radio club Saturday night - so life continues. All in all, stable. Can one ask for more?

Date: 2004-01-08 10:19 pm (UTC)Seen for the headache? *laughs* That means having health insurance which I am currently with out. First thing next month I'm enrolling in the insurnace my temp agency offers, but I can't afford the money coming out of my paychecks until then. I did go home from work at noon, slept three hours, took more Tylenol, and put a cold pack on my neck. I'm feeling better, not 100% but I'm at least able to function and turn on lights with out wanting to whimper.

Date: 2004-01-09 07:45 am (UTC)C'mon.
You're covered for the visit *and* the script - go. Really. When I have resources, I can get very scary. It won't hurt next month when you get the insurance - we're not even halfway through this one yet.
It's good to be frugal, and to bull your way through some things - however, chronic pain does mess with your head as well as feel absolutely sucky and that effect lasts longer than the headache. And you need to be at your best, right?
There will be some things you will encounter as you grow older that can't be helped - this is not one of them. Your decision, but feel free to get this one taken care of. You're covered by the Hutt "No BULLSHIT, No PROBLEM" health plan.
