Monday lite.

Do really old Carole King songs make good Trigun videos?

Winamp is behaving very nicely this morning. Karma thinks I worked hard yesterday. Oh, I did. It's good to discover that I can still keep 6 plates spinning and keep my cool at the same time. We cooked a lot. We ate a lot. We watched a lot. And I love having a back yard that allows that. Yay home ownership!

[livejournal.com profile] silverkun, try burning that CD again for me, now that I'm not sitting there. Your computer hates me. C's machine loves me. Don't ask how I know.

Fireworks? Where? Step outside my door last night, they were everywhere. Not the pretty kind. The loud kind.

9:12 PM - Phone call to the Sheriff's department. After being told to hold.

"Hello?"

"Fireworks. All around me."

"Where are you?"

"[address]"

"Okay. We'll send someone out."

No kidding.

I think they got there after midnight. A few yahoos decided fireworks went well with breakfast and began in again about 8:30 AM. The dog is not impressed.

And I thought the dog was stupidly braver than me. Stupid me.

I'm so glad that the thought to do a voice post was brief. And passed without any proof I had it.

I'm annoyed. July 5th, and zero work done on the Julnawrimo. That should be fixed by sleep tonight.

Jim and I are playing in parallel right now - I've got the door closed because I want to play the music LOUD. He's playing GameBoy propped in the Good Chair with Monster Garage or its clones on the television. It's the way that lefty brain works. Overload. Me, one thing at a time, picked apart to its component atoms. He's been REAL popular lately - phone has been ringing off the hook. Uncle Steve. Mom. Brothers. Coworkers.

*checks* He's watching Airline. And it's Southwest, at LAX. And the GameBoy is put away. *smiles* This is really good television, I think. You really think you have a suck job? Go watch what these guys have to put up with. Get a clue. Please.

Lost 15 lbs, dancing on the kitchen floor, tracing patterns on the grain of the floorboards.

When the exercise component comes into play to lose more - and it will come - I think I'm going to drag Jim out for lessons to do the ballroom stuff right. He likes it, would do it with me - and it would be good for both of us.

I fell down on the couch last night once everyone left and slept through everything Jim watched on the television. Which included Lilo & Stich. Yes, the television series. Yes, he loves it. If I can find some Stich fabric, I'm going to make him some scrubs with it. Did I get the whole synopsis when I woke up this morning? Yes, yes I did. It was a new one. What's louder than the music right now? Yup. Jim's laughter. And he's laughing a lot right now. Yes, he does laugh until he cries. Often.

One avoids vain talk, and abstains from it. One speaks at the right time, in accordance with facts, speaks what is useful, speaks of the law and the discipline; one’s speech is like a treasure, uttered at the right moment, accompanied by arguments, moderate and full of sense. This is called Right Speech.

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] joiseyguy

Someone wanted to argue that the shambles of the current space program was JFK's fault. One person's fault. PLEASE. WHAT.

I really need to go see if Bruce Hornsby is still making records. I loved that first album so much, and someone gave it to me as a Christmas gift.

[livejournal.com profile] juan70x, make sure you look up [livejournal.com profile] riverheart and [livejournal.com profile] charlesk when you get to Seattle. *sniff* Wish you were moving back home, but you know how it goes....

And then there's the album of Elton John/Bernie Taupin covers I adore - WinAmp being good to me again. I have a near-photographic memory for everything except sound. Music, I can remember the melodies - but the physical impact only comes when I hear the sounds again. And my memory is good enough to know that when it's missing.

Mmm. Chicago. Screw it. Here's three tracks off the morning concert:

Carole King - Way Over Yonder
Bruce Hornsby and The Range - The Red Plains
Oleta Adams - Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me

There's about 60% chance of taking over the uncooked leftovers from yesterday and grill over at Sis' house tonight. *sigh* I may have to confront her - this whole foster parent application will smack her if we do it as she's the physically nearest family we have. And she needs to be in touch to make it work. Being in touch when she wants to be isn't going to work. Wish me patience, tact and diplomacy.
