The "Copacabana" crooner was rushed to the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs Saturday in high fibrillation, according to his publicist. He was discharged 24 hours later after doctors conducted a battery of tests and procedures and his heart rate returned to normal.

Uh, yeah. Desert Hot Springs. Is not Palm Springs.

*whew*

Watch it, bubbie. No show is worth your life.

Ghad, I've been hearing pieces from "Harmony" for at least five years that I can recall. They are wonderful pieces of music - but he only does them in concert. I'm sure we'll see a show mounted soon - I'm sure of it - but it would be wrong in the worst way to see the show without him.

The euphemisms just slay me. "High fibrillation." Dude, last time I checked, that was called a code. Don't wanna scare, ya - no, no.

It's also called a close call. *blows air* Broken hearted, indeed.

[livejournal.com profile] silverkun, is that the hospital the one Lola's being treated at? The world just got very small today -

*snickers*

Noooo, no - in this case, she's a darling figure of a lady and Rey's dear grandmother. And very dear she is, too.

Very Dear Indeed. And yes, I believe that that's not only the place she's getting treated, it's also the place where my aunt works. Shrink your world a touch more...;>

Oh, gee, thanks. *cringes*

Like it wasn't small enough already - BTW, how is she doing these days, anyway? I hardly hear anything, so I have to think well - no news being good news, of course.

Talk about your distractions. *shakes head*

Actually...

Lola (pronounced low-lah, emphasis on both syllables) is the term for Grandmother in Tagalog, my parent's native language.
Though the idea of my grandmother as a showgirl amuses the hell out of me...;>

High fibrillation is no walk in the park but...

not necessarily a code situation. High fibrillation to me reads like a bad transcription of atrial fibrillation with high ventricular rate. While serious, this is not as immediately life threatening as ventricular fibrillation, where you die in minutes if not given shock, meds, CPR. Atrial fibrillation usually responds to medications, and if the irregular heart beat was due to some other illness or chemical imbalance, it can correct when the underlying cause if remedied.

Just to put your mind a little more at ease.

Harmony opened at the La Jolla playhouse and my mother and I were there on opening night. It's a bloody excellent story & musical...he's put so much into it that it would be a complete miscarriage of justice if he wasn't involved in finally bringing it to Broadway. Urgh. On the good side, I read that he went home yesterday. :)
