[livejournal.com profile] varna did. She gave me the invite code nearly two years ago, when such things were necessary.

Who gave you your LJ?

I didn't need an invite code

I got my LJ in July of 2001. I do believe the invite code policy didn't go into effect until 2002. I forgot who got me started reading livejournal, which would have made me get an account to put up replies too. =P

My friend [livejournal.com profile] terig did, after getting a paid account. I've known her for nearly 20 years! CRY

I got it free. They weren't requiring such silly things like codes back then. :)

I came to LJ via a friend, but rather than get a code, I just bought a paid account. I've given a few out, though. :)

Ummmn... [livejournal.com profile] taeli, I think. I wanted a place to post that wasn't my blog, because my boyfriend at the time had read something he didn't like in my blog and we'd had a bit of an argument about it.

No one gave me one because my LJ was created June 21, 2001, before all of the code deal was implemented. However, through other circumstances entirely, I found LJ via [livejournal.com profile] hitwoman. Even though she showed it to me, she didn't actually set up an LJ account until after I did.

I was an early adopter in 2000. Didn't need no steenkin' invite codes ;-)

I joined up in 2000, quite some time before the invite codes began, just shy of being an early adopter.

I joined because my roommate at the time, [livejournal.com profile] camille, was always talking about her LJ. She was doing it as a therapy, and I decided I could use someplace like that too. So, I acquired LJ as a place to temporarily dump some stresses. I'd never been able to maintain a journal for more than a month in the past, and a month sounded like it would be enough to get me through the current crisis at that time.

Four years later, here I still am. And grateful indeed for LJ. Not just for the place to let of steam when things get to be too much. But also because of the people I'd never have gotten the chance to know at all otherwise, like you and [livejournal.com profile] lockehart.
