drave117 - for someone who does quite well with rideshares on Craiglist, he also gets incredible luck with pick up points.
This morning? The Griddle in Hollywood.
Cold, raining, bleak - and hysterically busy this morning. I think we waited 45 minutes to get seated. Drave had to get his breakfast to go and split shortly thereafter due to the lateness - but I doubt he'll be hungry the rest of the day.
A plate of pancakes for this place are pancakes the size of your normal dinner plate, with a tad of overhang - and there are three of them. Height from the table to the top? 6". This is when I began to eat my stack "European pizza-style" - where they work around the edges towards the middle.
cadhla, they have pumpkin pancakes here year-round. You, me and my niece Pookie - plus, we'll need at least five more pumpkin heads, and we'll split a platefull someday. That's how big this dish is.
And the best part was that I think they're going to hold up well to reheating - so here's to breaking off a hunk and microwaving breakfast for the rest of the week! (This morning's choice was the Barry Yellow pancakes - lemon with fresh raspberries. Maple syrup only improved the taste....)
Jim had his standard ham, eggs and potatoes - and he has yet to ask for another meal today.
We then took the long way home and started looking at couches. What we found was that we have nearly identical tastes in furniture, and Jim gravitates to California arts & crafts noveau/art deco more than I do (which is a switch) - and all of the couches we liked did not come in a sleeper sofa version. To my mind, this is something I shouldn't ignore - because if I don't replace that sofa with a sleeper, I am down sleeping space permanently to the one single bed in the back bedroom. Forget the air beds. I'm not wasting money on that again. *snarls*
Would you like to see a sample of what was found acceptable? I would too - but after looking all over the internet, I can't find one. Waterhill makes a lot of different couches - so just giving you their name as an example isn't going to help much. But think rounded design rather than square - and we want a taller back, and a couch that can look appealing without being covered in cushions. We also saw a number of couches with carved wooden backs that looked really tasty.
But walking into store after store after store? You need something to break it up. Cue the contempo-neon glitz, someplace out of the Jetsons foo-foo parlor. Barstools lit from the inside with neon tubes. Starfish-shaped easy chairs. Lime green - couch, loveseat and coffee table. Stuff that looked like it came off a Bond movie set. An OLD Bond movie set.
An hour of that, and I'm done for a while. I think I also have a good idea of how much I need to budget as well - and I think another trip to IKEA for comparison shopping will happen in the near future.
Kitten Scissorpaws has removed three of the soft paws caps already. Benadryl making me weary.
