I remember JFK's assassination.
Imagine every single adult you know, interacted with or saw in deepest mourning.
Every. Single. One.
Your parents. Your teachers. People at the store.
And every channel on television has nothing but reports about it on. From when it starts up early in the morning to when it goes off the air at night.
A complete reflection of what's going on around you.
Bobby Kennedy and MLK's assassinations a few years later were almost as if they'd learned something and nobody talked much about it. The kids were taken out to play and nobody talked about it while we were awake.
Much the same thing happened the deeper we got into Vietnam.
Then Nixon screwed the pooch and that was the end of that. Didn't matter what Watergate was all about - we found out we got served, and that was the end of trusting whoever was in the White House.
But until then? You just took it on faith. Really.
