*Yawn* ~stretch~
Jul. 26th, 2004 10:34 pmFirst night of MAPP classes. Wazzat you say? Oh, the parenting classes we have to have under our belts before our home study is done.
How badly do I want to get this going? Bad enough to go to South Central LA to do it. Yessir.
I get to do this twice a week until the end of August. Three hours worth each session.
Tonight was forms. Forms forms forms forms. The state has theirs, the county has another set. Mostly duplicating what was already done on the other forms. I'm going to be fingerprinted. Twice. Because one system doesn't have access to the others. Forms forms forms forms forms.
It's alphabet soup right now. And no, I don't remember what MAPP stood for.
(Some of the questions they ask you are very leading...and one of the rules we made for the class was that for all intents and purposes, the class is Vegas. What happens in class, stays in class. So no blogging classwork, sorry.)
I'm going to go fall down now. Be back later. Like, tomorrow or something.

Date: 2004-07-27 06:50 am (UTC)You'd think things like "don't put Pepsi in the bottle" and "don't ditch the baby to go get soused on tequila" would be common knowledge, but eh -

Date: 2004-07-27 07:03 am (UTC)There was also an 18-year-old boy, there all by himself wanting to become a foster parent. I was partnered off briefly with a ton of energy who just got her own home after waiting for section 8 to come through - she's out on disability with lupus, but wants to see if she can help out her cousins and foster.
Somehow, I don't believe somebody who doesn't think further than SHUTDEFUGUP is going to be taking this class.
It's also going to be an interesting dynamic for us, race-wise - we're the only crackers in the box, except for the social workers running the class.
Step One
