[livejournal.com profile] linusmines - thanks.

I've done this. But in my version, I stick my figers in my ears and humm the national anthem. Best done wearing a flag shirt.

This is, without a doubt, one of the sickest things I've seen this year. Using your kids as shills. Using your kids as double agent shills. Contempt doesn't cover it. One, taking a small child to a political rally. Two, your older child abuses your younger one. Three, you planned it that way. For a photo op.

I've been away for the last couple of days, essentially. Jim got word that a beloved great-uncle passed away yesterday - and we can't get him home for the funeral. Talked to my Mom this morning (sounds great, can't complain), and Sis has had to put one of her dogs down due to liver cancer this past week - I'd love to offer my condolences, but she's not taking calls. That's snarky, and worse, it's true.

Summer is over; with Cliff's passing, it seemed that he just took it with him. Coming now are shorter days, longer nights and cooler temperatures (well, two out of three ain't bad) - and holidays. First up, Halloween! Saving, culling and putting old paperbacks aside, labeling for bookcrossing and preparing to give them all away as trick or treats - they were a huge hit last year! (Kids were coming over the next day asking for more...audacious, but cute. Think four-year-old audacious cute. Sans parents. Oops!)

My front door has two watch-spiders. One at the door itself (common brown housespider, very well-fed and growing like mad....) and the other has a hooge web across the patio from post to post - the big yellow and black garden variety. I think I may have to relocate the girls to the back yard before Halloween, what do you think? Jim is scared of spiders - the ones we get here are just plain gorgeous, I can't help loving them. We've had a couple in the back yard the size of gumdrops - and yes, I know the venomous from the other and can keep my distance, so it's all good. Jeez, I come from tarantula territory, what are you afraid of?

Gray and coral fuzzy gumdrops - huge, beautiful webs.

Talked to one of my very oldest friends by messenger this week - trying to get another get together together - the same one I did back in July? I'm just a bit flattened - both of these now-parents of teenage daughters, who ditched me when I wasn't a member of their church and they were to "shun the unbelievers" (ie, me), are just gleefully jumping into anime for their kids with both feet - and not really watching for content as I would expect them to.

Uh, this one downloaded the first episode of Azumanga Daioh, for example. Fansubbed. For his ten year old daughter. Who won't even discuss punctuation right now because it includes the word "period" in the array. Uhhhhh. I told him in no uncertain terms NOT TO SHOW HER ANY MORE of them until he and his wife watched them first.

The other one has two girls, 14 and 16, who are reading Gravitation and are not squicked by the gay sex in the least. Wonder if their Dad even knows about it. *shakes head*

I have to go. I have to go now. Back when I can get here.

I like spiders too. I had one in my living room for years getting the flies that would come in due to our having no screen doors. I finally moved him outside when we did get those screens.
