All good things -
Oct. 1st, 2004 07:45 amI took
being_homeless to the airport this morning - she's on her way to Portland from here. *sniff*
There's much nattering about bringing her back for a week. Nice is good. Nice is very, very good.
And nice is getting on a plane to Portland this morning.
Jim, sweetie - here's a website link you need. And - they have a blog, too! You know, I often hum the old union song "look for the union label..." but in a hospital setting, that could be unsettling. I mean, where would they PUT that label, anyway?
Geeks - and I mean, you old school geeks - I need to find some headhunting resources for electrical engineers. I may end up calling some old friends of Cliff's - it's been a long time since I traveled in those circles.
caitlin is being slapped around by people who don't appreciate her, or her education and needs a good entry level engineering position. She's got the skills, she's got the education and the work ethic. She needs a better job...anyone got someone who wants to find a good job for her out there?
Swiss artists living in TX, AR, CO, KS, LA, NM and OK: your consulate in Houston wants to hear from you. If you are an artist and already had an exhibit or have been published, please send a portfolio of your work, bibliography and press releases, if there are any to: Consulate General of Switzerland, Two Allen Center, 1200 Smith Street, Suite #1040, Houston TX 77002. email is at vertetung@hou.rep.admin.ch - mention my name. Swiss in Chicago should look up http://www.spurensuchemidwest.org - a resource for preserving the German-speaking cultures in the American midwest put together after WWII.
Yes, I went to the post office box from the airport this morning and got my latest copy of Swiss Review.
It's a real shame - Crystal would have liked the article on Micheline Calmy-Rey, the Federal Councilor -
You want to promote peace by fighting poverty. Specialists disagree with this view, particularly in relation to Moslem terrorist groups, and claim that the motivation behind terrorism is a political bid for power rather that material need.
And she replied:
To fight terrorism effectively, one must address its causes. Even if there is no direct connection between poverty and violence, poverty (and particularly the lack of any prospects of economic or social improvement) encourages the growth of terrorist organizations. So combating terrorism is at the very least helped by fighting poverty.
Good morning!
