gaywrites:
Some 40 years ago, Tracey Norman’s modeling career was abruptly halted when she was outed to her employer as a transgender woman.
Now, at age 64, she’s back in the game. She’s the new face of the “Color As Real As You Are” hair color campaign for Clairol, one of her first clients.
Norman describes her reaction to getting the news that Clairol wanted to work with her again — the real her.
“At the time I just had so many different emotions going through me. I was being accepted for who I was. And they wanted me to come back as that person and not be something other than what I truly am —”
She pauses, then smiles.
“— a woman of color, of course.”
Beautiful woman, powerful story. Congratulations, Tracey. (via LGBTQ Nation)
