I have, in the last hour:

Booked airfare for both me and my mother to fly up to Sacramento to see her sister. I did this on a Friday night so we could get there for breakfast the next morning. Yeah.
Booked a rental car and first night's hotel stay in Sacramento through Priceline. We get in at 11:30 PM. Yeah.
That was the last of the luck.

We're going to be staying at a Best Western in Grass Valley for two nights for an ungodly amount of money. It looks cute. It had better be cute.

I am a Good Daughter. I am also bringing the video camera. Mom remembered she has two cousins in Sacramento - one in his nineties. I haven't met him. From all reports, he still does his own yardwork.

And the other cousin is her age.

Getting there? Good.

I am a Good Daughter. I am also a big brave dog. A REALLY big brave dog.

I need to go find a good laptop that will allow me to do the database stuff this visit demands. AUGH. Repeat.

Dumbass niece walked out of the doctor's office without getting 1) a release to go back to work or 2) a writ to stay off work due to injury. I may go out to her house Sunday and f*scking kill her. There's no doubt she's injured now - but fer the love of mud, when someone else is paying the bills, get the work done. GAH. Now we have to start the whole mess over again, and if that is how I spend my one day with Jim this week, I will be one cranky-ass bitch.

She's got a ten-year-old in the middle of this. Judas Priest, I wouldn't put Cliff in this kind of a bind, I sure won't stand by and just watch him get slammed and run over.

You're more than just a good daughter. You're clearly a bright person who can get things done. That doesn't mean you can't get frustrated by unnecessary road blocks tossed in your way, but it does mean that it's a good thing for your family and friends that you're on the case. Good luck getting everything done with a minimum of frustration.

Not this trip, I fear - having Mom with me totally books me solid the entire trip. I've tried mixing her with other folks while traveling, and learned not to do it again. She's a full court press.

If youre a Costco member, then buy one of their laptops. If you dont like it, then you can always return in within six months REGARDLESS for whatever reason.

I know of a sad few people who buy laptops from Costco then return them every 5 months. Its like renting a laptop for free to them. I think its pathetic. But since I am in desperate need of a laptop right now for classes and Idont want to rush into buying one right now, Im thinking of actually just "renting" a Costco laptop.

When I find an affordable and adequate laptop, then Ill simply return my Costco one.
