Yes, we took a great leap backward last night. I can't wait for the thought police or the religious zealots to start the pogroms. George Orwell was a prophet. '1984' is to Bush what 'Mein Kampf' was to Hitler, even though I do have my doubts that Dubya can read.

As for the early 70's, I can see this happening again. As the war machine moves forward (yes kiddies, there will be a draft), the youth of America will act. Time for the 'old guard' to be there to guide them.

Personally, I am sick of having a bunch of old fogies in places like Florida, rednecks in the South, and dumbass farmers in the MidWest (not to mention cowboys in the Mountain states and that other waste of land that borders Mexico) be the ones to decide who runs the country. You cannot overestimate the stupidity of the American people. Guess it's a good thing I droppped off an application for a second job right after I voted - living on a teacher's salary in what's coming is going to suck slimy rocks through a bendy straw. Where are the Weathermen and the SDS when we REALLY need them?

I'm not going to forget that this one wasn't decided by a landslide - more like a trickle. Less than 53% (I'm estimating) is not a mandate. We knew it was going to be close -

For me, I'm comforted by knowing that for every person who disagrees with me, there is another person who does. That's what this election has taught me.

It's not the overwhelming majority I thought it was back in April of 2003.

*sigh* I guess the political rants just aren't over yet.

Sorry to dump that in your journal -as I told my son on the way home today, I'm dealing with a lot of impotent anger, and I don't know what to do with it, and it makes me touchy and unreasonable.

Yeah, there are 'old fogies' everywhere, and some of 'em probably even voted for Kerry. There are people of all kinds who 'went against type' and voted for "anyone BUT Bush' -blind anger tends to make me lash out without thinking it through, and, given the generalizations that Bush and his ilk seem to rely on makes it that much more tempting to hurl generalizations right back at 'em.

Next time, I promise to try to remember to take the trash (talk) outside where it belongs.

Actually, places like New Mexico have a lot of hispanics who are conservative by nature. They come from a place where EVERYONE is religious and ALL schools have uniforms.

Remember, this election was decided by the "morally" religious.

"morally religious' as in "check your brains at the door and we'll tell you what to believe and how to act" - I opted out of that line of thinking a long time ago...

Sad part is, when things start to fall in on them because of who they elected, they'll probably believe it's "G-d's will".
