Scary shit is going on in Portland. Three people were stabbed on a light rail train tonight because they came to the aid of a woman in a headscarf being verbally attacked. Two of them died. There was a right-wing march down 82nd Ave (an area where there are lots of Asian businesses and low-income people of all races live) where white supremacist slogans were shouted last month. And there’s going to be a rally June 4 with a bunch of white supremacist fuckwits (Nazi imagery at that link) downtown somewhere.
I have talked on many occasions about the white supremacy that pervades Oregon’s very founding and Portland’s increasing whiteness, but this is still scary as fuck. Be careful out there, protect yourselves and those more vulnerable than you if you can.
