Well, it was a blackout after all.

People who update and read LJ on dialup with AOL have my respect. But also, they likely have little time to do much else. Or they have learned to do many things inbetween page loads.

I haven't seen LJ. I didn't even get a chance to do a voice post - I've have spent the last week waking at 6:30 AM to throw on clothes, gulp down my vitamins and go to work caring for Mom, and not stopping until I fell down at 10:00 PM or so, only to jump up again and begin all over the next day.

Good news? She's much, much improved. But I am very, very tired.

And Sunday, the Escort blew a head gasket going back to the house with Jim - on the way home today, we went by the Nissan dealer and finalized the purchase of two Nissan Sentras - 2005, 1.8S Special Editions with a lot of bells and whistles. How does "Red Alert" Red with Charcoal pinstripes sound? That one's mine - Jim's is Silver.

Tomorrow, I begin the process of donating the Escort and the Ranger to the Red Cross. Don't bother telling me how much more of a deduction I could have taken if I had done it before January 1st. I didn't have a car with a blown head gasket January 1st. I didn't have my financing in to buy new cars before January 1st. Bite me.

I am going to go soak in a hot tub with some LUSH-y goodness and a glass of something warm with a high alcohol content. Tomorrow, I am on vacation. I have done nothing but housework for a week - I need a break!

Pictures tomorrow. Tonight, I fwump.

I am so very glad to be home. You have no idea.

Actually, I have an excellent idea, unfortunately.
Congradulations on the new cars. Now, get some rest and take care of YOU for a bit.

Glad to hear you're home and your Mom is doing better. I spend every weekend at my Mom's, a 125 mile drive (one way), doing all the little errands and repairs that my Dad used to do. In the meantime, I occasionally make trips mid week, to deal with plumbing problems, or contractors, as the case may be. Hopefully this will end sometime this year when I sell my Mom's place and move her to a much more suitable (meaning closer) location.

The whole role reversal, of the child caring for the parent, does get to me, but I guess that is part of growing old. I can only hope there will be someone for me when my time comes.

I'd seriously consider hanging onto the property any way you can - yes, Mom needs to come down where it's warmer, easier to get good services to her and all that, but holy merde, the building that is going on out there! Pity I can't live in two places at once, neh?
