Why, yes - I may be coming to a neighborhood near you soon!

So far, we have a trip planned to Chicago for the weekend of February 18th - we are going to go see that Dear Friends concert (Merry Christmas to Jim!) - so we'll be arriving Friday afternoon, and staying until Sunday. I demand Cracker Barrel and Steak-n-Shake at least once each while I'm there.

Would anyone like to come by? Nearest Cracker Barrel is at 415 Airport Road, Elgin IL 60123-9356, (847) 742-2500.

Nearest Steak-n-Shake? 10421 Touhy Ave., Rosemont IL 60018, 847-299-3944.

Got a suggestion?

[Poll #420196]

I only bite what I eat.

Oh, wait.

AND -

I will be up near Santa Rosa for [livejournal.com profile] silverkun and [livejournal.com profile] ceolyn's nuptials in June - don't expect to be released from wedding plans until Sunday afternoon - but there is a definite slice of OPEN at the end of the day Sunday because we aren't leaving the area until Monday AM.

That bracket is June 3rd through the 6th. Evening of the 5th is open.

Would anyone like a meal?

If I'm not going up to Madison that weekend, I'd love to meet you at Cracker Barrel. It's in my general neck of the woods :D

We've never been to either, so that could be cool. Provided it is bean friendly in time and such, we would like to attend!

Got any time between now and then to visit? =)

I'm still looking forward to going to the one place you mentioned a while back (a few months, I think?)

Will you need a place to stay while up here for Rey and Cat's wedding? I already offered to Rey that if he needs, I can provide a guest bedroom. Wanna snag it?

Are you comfortable with Elgin (40 minutes outside of city) and Rosemont (20 minutes outside of city) being your points of contact?

I would like to recommend a Denny's, any Denny's, near you. The Denny's in the Chicago area are good with service and food and there's one in every town. If you've had a bad experience with Denny's and just can't bear the thought in any town, I'd turn to IHOP next.

There's scatterings of Olive Gardens, Chili's, Chevy's, etc etc etc. And, if you like Steak & Shake, try Portillo's... you won't be disappointed!

Santa Rosa's a bit of a haul for me on a work night, I'm afraid. But do enjoy the area. It's lovely.

I would suggest the Cracker Barrel outing - Steak-n-Shake is more of a diner, and tends to be very distracting/noisy, particularly for a little one.

Cracker Barrel should be okay - the only caveat is that not all of the bright shiny things are kid-proof, so that might be a challenge.

And it's likely we'll spoil her rotten -

Will send you more specifics by email!

Oh, I'm sure we will -

GHAD, which place was that? I'm sure I've mentioned more than a few - and likely, we'll want to go no matter where it is.

Priceline is mah bitch.

I got a lovely stay at a Ramada Inn Express in Rohnert Park for next to nothing (for upstate prices) -

I should offer some amenities to you - wonder if the place has a jacuzzi....

I think Rosemont is where we're centered - that's where the concert is going to be.

Denny's? Go watch Pulp Fiction again - there's your Denny's in California for ya. *chuckles* We're loaded with them.

Think you might be able to make one?

The place with the flyer you got... I think it served curry and cheese steaks or something... but I could have my facts wrong...

Memory like a sieve...

Crap. It may have to be in the evening...I may be helping someone move that weekend. They may or may not be moving that weekend, depends on landlord issues (I just double checked the date with her) Sunday would work too. Dunno what your schedule is. :)

Closest one to me here at home is in Kingman, AZ. About six hours by car. *weeps*

The absolute culmination of kitsch - Cracker Barrel.

That, and I like their food.

Sadly, Illinois is not far enough east for me to get to easily.

Also, Cracker Barrel = incredibly unfriendly for vegetarians. Everything you think would be veggie safe (like, for example, the veggies) is frequently cooked with lard, beef tallow, etc.

But we simply *must* meet up at some point.

I could try but it's been years since I've made a Denny's from scratch.

Oh wait, you mean...

No, I'm in Florida. If you're ever in the Fort Myers area, let me know. ;) I just lived the majority of my life in Chicago.

Most of my food reccomendations are for downtown Chicago. Which, btw, wouldn't be much of a stretch if you're staying in Rosemont. There's an airport friendly L-stop there.

If you can drive a bit, I reccomend a restaurant called Basilico's (Norridge, IL) which is prolly only about 5 miles from you. It's one of my mom's favorites, and my husband and I quite liked it too.

Not that I could join in anyway, I'll be lucky if I get to see my kind of town in late May. :[

You know, you're the second person to recommend the place - we'll have to go there, just because....

I should go raid the Food TV network site for Itallian bakeries - forgot all about those.
