Travel Schedule
Jan. 18th, 2005 10:03 amWhy, yes - I may be coming to a neighborhood near you soon!
So far, we have a trip planned to Chicago for the weekend of February 18th - we are going to go see that Dear Friends concert (Merry Christmas to Jim!) - so we'll be arriving Friday afternoon, and staying until Sunday. I demand Cracker Barrel and Steak-n-Shake at least once each while I'm there.
Would anyone like to come by? Nearest Cracker Barrel is at 415 Airport Road, Elgin IL 60123-9356, (847) 742-2500.
Nearest Steak-n-Shake? 10421 Touhy Ave., Rosemont IL 60018, 847-299-3944.
Got a suggestion?
[Poll #420196]
I only bite what I eat.
Oh, wait.
AND -
I will be up near Santa Rosa for
silverkun and
ceolyn's nuptials in June - don't expect to be released from wedding plans until Sunday afternoon - but there is a definite slice of OPEN at the end of the day Sunday because we aren't leaving the area until Monday AM.
That bracket is June 3rd through the 6th. Evening of the 5th is open.
Would anyone like a meal?

Date: 2005-01-18 09:41 pm (UTC)Cracker Barrel should be okay - the only caveat is that not all of the bright shiny things are kid-proof, so that might be a challenge.
And it's likely we'll spoil her rotten -
Will send you more specifics by email!

Date: 2005-01-18 09:44 pm (UTC)I got a lovely stay at a Ramada Inn Express in Rohnert Park for next to nothing (for upstate prices) -
I should offer some amenities to you - wonder if the place has a jacuzzi....

Date: 2005-01-18 08:23 pm (UTC)I would like to recommend a Denny's, any Denny's, near you. The Denny's in the Chicago area are good with service and food and there's one in every town. If you've had a bad experience with Denny's and just can't bear the thought in any town, I'd turn to IHOP next.
There's scatterings of Olive Gardens, Chili's, Chevy's, etc etc etc. And, if you like Steak & Shake, try Portillo's... you won't be disappointed!

Date: 2005-01-18 09:47 pm (UTC)Denny's? Go watch Pulp Fiction again - there's your Denny's in California for ya. *chuckles* We're loaded with them.
Think you might be able to make one?

No, I'm in Florida. If you're ever in the Fort Myers area, let me know. ;) I just lived the majority of my life in Chicago.

Date: 2005-01-18 10:34 pm (UTC)The absolute culmination of kitsch - Cracker Barrel.
That, and I like their food.

Date: 2005-01-18 11:19 pm (UTC)Also, Cracker Barrel = incredibly unfriendly for vegetarians. Everything you think would be veggie safe (like, for example, the veggies) is frequently cooked with lard, beef tallow, etc.
But we simply *must* meet up at some point.

Date: 2005-01-19 06:09 am (UTC)If you can drive a bit, I reccomend a restaurant called Basilico's (Norridge, IL) which is prolly only about 5 miles from you. It's one of my mom's favorites, and my husband and I quite liked it too.
Not that I could join in anyway, I'll be lucky if I get to see my kind of town in late May. :[
Re: Blah
Date: 2005-01-19 06:09 pm (UTC)I should go raid the Food TV network site for Itallian bakeries - forgot all about those.
