Not -

Ended up at the urgent care this morning (and got the nicest Jewish Mamma's boy for a doctor - lefty and all!) - with a sore eye. Don't ask me how. Don't ask me why - but he's written me for drops every six hours for the next five days.

Which means I got weighed and my BP taken.

That fucking scale at home is SO toast. It told me 153 yesterday.

I am - tadadadta - 168 pounds.

And my BP is 136/95.

This is completely unacceptable. The weight HAS to come off.

I hate the gym. I have a gym membership.

I am going to start doing something I HATE. Because, well. *rolls eyes*

That, and buy a scale that works well enough to USE. GOD.

Looks like the mood has changed in your house:

No wonder your BP is high! :-D

Sounds like you're going to need BP meds while you lose the weight. That's the problem I have right now. Can't really exercise until I lose some weight so my knees and heart will survive the beating.

in my experience, different scales will often say very different things... and i'm not sure i trust the doctor's scales so very much, either.

sorry to hear about your eye, and hope it feels better soon.

Tanita scales. Good. Accurate. Don't eat batteries. I've had mine for a little over two years and I've only replaced the batteries once. Some of them can even calculate body fat %. Mine's a cheaper model ($26.99) and only weights in half pound increments, I've thought about getting one that's a bit more accurate. But otherwise I'm very happy with mine.

Another vote of confidence for the Tanita scales. I've got the fat percentage calculating one which was about $50 ~ 60ish IIRC and ditto on the not eating batteries.

I hate it when the scales at home and at the doctor's don't match up!

I deliberately set the one at home to tell me I'm a bit heavier, just in case. But I'm also the sort of person who sets half the clocks in the house a few minutes ahead.

Best of luck tackling the gym.

Does this mean...???

.....no more soft chewy chocolaty brownies? My doctor just said the same thing to me, the weight has to come off.

What BP were you told you SHOULD have? That one sounds good to me. So does the weight. My girlfriend is around that same weight and looks beautiful. :)

I agree, this blood pressure sounds pretty OK. Bottom number is a little high, but not excessively so.

That's *with* the little bit of dyazide I'm on - and I really don't want to move into anything "harder" than that -

I'm nearly forty pounds overweight. Once that's off, we'll talk about needing medication for BP - sheesh.

The moment some money hits the account. Knew that scale wasn't accurate, but I was thinking in relative terms, and maybe it was five pounds or so off.

Not twenty. To the bad...SHEESH.

Notice how I sent all of it home with other people?

I got one. One was plenty.

And yes, you can have one - just not one whole panfull. And not every day, morning, noon and night.

In your case, I'd ask your doctor for guidance -

For the record, I'm gorgeous. *grins*

I love to have my BP back down in the 120/70 range - the elevated BP is largely genetic, my grandmother had it. But the women from that part of the family are BIG girls, and she wasn't the exception.

I started out this height at under 120 pounds - getting back down close to 135-140 should do the number on the BP.

I might end up looking like a surfboard, but I haven't got any tits now anyway....

My issues are largely genetic - and I come from a very deeply medical background, so I've got a good idea where the problem is coming from.

No, it's not bad - but it's NOT where I want it, and this is *with* the medication level I tolerate well and don't want to change.

I'm already off most cold preparations I like to use - Nyquil sends me skyrocketing.

And Jim? He's got the genetics for the lowest BP I've ever seen walking around - 90/60. He's also the first person to hit the floor in a faint when stunned, and gets migraines...and as his weight has come up, so has his BP numbers and we need to level him off too.

This needs improvement - I'm not satisfied with this.

Hope your eye feels better! Is it a scratched cornea? I had one of those once -- big OWie -- and had no idea how I scratched it. So I had to do the eyedrops thing ... AND wear glasses instead of contacts for my Big Colorado Ski Trip two years ago. I was soooo glad that I had bought ski goggles that fit over my glasses....

No, my guess is either an infected tear duct or a bruised tear duct - just where the eyeglass bridge sits on the inside of the right eye. The eye itself appears to be unaffected, but the inside of the eye socket is swollen, sore and discolored slightly.

Heat packs do wonders. But then, I can't see crap without my glasses on.
