Something once learned...
Sep. 8th, 2002 02:44 pmI owe one thing to Cliff, when it comes to dealing with people.
He taught me that there more kinds of associations you have with others besides being a friend or being a stranger.
You may also have acquaintances. Know the difference between these and friends, and never confuse the two.
Kind of the difference between infatuation and love. Kind of a waiting room for something more.
But never trust an acquaintance with what you would trust a friend with.

At any rate, we began to talk about life in general.
When we were finished, he told me, "I have many acquaintances in this life, but few friends. I will call you my friend."
I was touched and have never forgotten that phrase...
"I have many acquaintances, but few friends."
It is true.
