Teri Schiavo has died. Poor thing. May her memory bring peace.

Her family of origin certainly has no concept of the word.

Note: if anyone wants to take potshots at Michael Schiavo, keep in mind - if I had not had the prescence of mind to get an advance directive for Cliff, it would have been me. It. Would. Have. Been. Me.

Free at last. Thank God Almighty. Free at last.

Oh, thank goodness.

I kept hoping they'd just let her go.

Hopefully she has peace now.

Hopefully she can rest easy in the afterlife. I guess I kinda sound heartless in my post, but I'm just sick of hearing about the whole thing. I hope her family can come to forgive her husband (Well, in their eyes forgive).

It is disgusting and rather ironic that the greatest blow to the rights and privileges of traditional marriage that I've ever seen has been dealt by the United States Senate.

If Bob hadn't been quite so successful, it could well have been me.

That which I posted in my LJ about my wishes will be appended to an Advance Directive. We need to do these, but since we can't witness each others' directives, we need others to witness for us.

Amen to that.

I like to think that she suffered for a reason, though - her case has knocked Bush and the religious right cronies down severely. Bush's approval rating is at its lowest ever thanks to her struggle. She may be instrumental in breaking the religious reich's hold on power, and for that I salute her.

I think this will make many people get an advance directive. I hope so.

I'm very upset with the Schindlers for selling the list of those who donated and wrote cards to them.

I feel badly for the families of all the other patients in the hospice. How can you go see your family member with all that crap going on out front? How peaceful is it for the patients who are aware?

And I'm totally offended by the parents who arranged to have their children arrested. How dare anyone use a child that way!

She only had one life to give for her country.

Poor thing never even knew it.

Hello, DCFS?

Oh, wait. This is in Florida.

Nevermind!

I like to think she knows now, and is glad.

The scary thing for me is that some of the religious rightists are going to be demanding payback from the Bushies. I don't know if that means the appointment of *only* life-at-any-cost judges, or a bill banning the removal of feeding tubes from *anybody* or what.

They divided the whole country, and now they want to divide their own party. Sheesh.

It's as I was once told - "if two shall gather in His name, they shall fight."

May she rest in peace.

I almost fell out of my chair when the Vatican representative said it wasn't a 'natural' death. They denied her that fifteen years ago, when modern medical science got involved. Having a feeding tube is not 'natural', it's human intervention.

Indeed. They had to go through hecklers outside, and several checkpoints inside. Apparently at least one family member of another patient has complained to the media that she was unable to see her father right before he died because it took her so long to get through the crowd of hecklers and several security checkpoints inside the hospice. =/
