Not.

No, I plan a very plebeian set of days cleaning out the refrigerator, putting up strawberry jam and applesauce, a bit of housecleaning and laundry. Some gardening. Maybe I'll manage to get that rototiller over to the repair shop today. That would be a good task out of the way.

I have some ground screaming to be a garden and I'm answering the call this year, so help me.

My rose bushes have exploded and it's really pretty.

Work had a health fair Thursday (BP, blood sugar check, etc.) - and lo and behold, a free massage! Only five minutes, but it did point up a couple of things.

One, my sore shoulder is coming from a huge knot below my right shoulder blade - the knot is pain-free, but the rest of my back isn't. It's amazing what you live with, neh?

Found some kick-ass feta cheese at the farmer's market yesterday - I picked up on a dish I was served in a greek restaurant in Switzerland that has orzo, lamb, feta cheese in a tomato sauce base that today is one of my favorite comfort foods, when I can find all the ingredients. That, and feta cheese makes a very good omelette filling, too. With a little rosemary.

I've also got enough makings for carrot soup for thousands.

Oh, and that feta cheese? Bought at the same time as the strawberries - left them in the relative coolness of the trunk in the parking garage under the building until I could go home.

Boy. Feta cheese and strawberries sure know how to brink the funk. I'm serious.

And I plan to get lot of naps this weekend and get rid of this cold. It's a nuisance, plain and simple.

Would much rather being driving. [livejournal.com profile] poetpaladin - we really should try to make a trip to the desert for pictures before it's over. I'm told this year's wildflowers are twenty-year epic grade....

Gee, that was fast - must have been a gangbuster.

I was thinking of you yesterday - but then started sniffing and thought twice before exposing you to this. With your asthma history, this wouldn't be a nuisance for you to catch.

Did they say anything at the first choice job place?

If you have any leftover feta, try it with lightly sauteed green beans, sauteed onions, a sauteed little garlic and some basil. Toss the vegetables over pasta and add a ripe tomato if you like. It's fantastic.

I was told in December they would be, due to increased rain and flooding. Go, go, go!

You are talking about roses, and my friends back homea retalking about a snowstorm with snow flakes the size of quarters... So odd. And yes, i know you are half a continent apart, but still!

I hear they're 100 year epic grade. And that it is extremely overcrowded in Death Valley. Maps have sold out, motel rooms are all booked up, and fistfights have occurred at gas stations.

We better do it soon. How does Sunday sound?

Let's set it for next weekend, when Jim can go - and yes. Let's. But we don't have to do Death Valley - I have plenty of haunts all my own we can do, and not deal with..uh, fist fights? o_0

yes, you must go the Antelope Valley to see the poppies! we went up there right before we moved last month, and they were wonderful - and not even fully in bloom yet!

I was born and raised out in Hemet, and then married a mountain climber...you can do a whole lot staying away from the big populated areas and cruising along the backside of the Angeles Crest.

That, and points outside Palm Springs are veddy nice, too.
