Apr. 15th, 2005 10:55 amThe Sheriff was out to visit the folks down the street. I haven't see anyone stir out of that house since.
The little calico has had her kittens - she showed up for a feed this morning, much slimmer and with moist, matted fur. I suspect she has hid the kittens someone around the yard. Don't as me why -
Last night, I was woken out of a sound sleep by cat noises - like catfight noises. This morning, the food was gone from a full bowl, but no sign of the cats. Filled the bowl (running around like a mad thing) - and lo and behold, there she is. Yeah. After going to bed after midnight, and getting up at 6:30 AM.
I hope I can find the kittens.

Date: 2005-04-15 06:06 pm (UTC)So how's the neighbors? Any snarky new developments aimed at you since you called the cops? Or have they pissed off enough people that they can't figure out who ratted on them?

Date: 2005-04-15 06:07 pm (UTC)If the dogs were "hungry and thirsty" again, I will be tempted to head to those peoples' house and crack their skulls.
Seriously, I had trouble sleeping after hearing that those kids had been so nonchalant about newborn kittens being eaten alive by ravenous dogs.

Date: 2005-04-15 06:13 pm (UTC)Which is not an excuse for mistreatment, but rather a nuance as to why the dogs might have eaten the kittens.

Date: 2005-04-15 08:17 pm (UTC)No, I didn't say they were starving the kids - but I did tell them what I did notice about them. I've never seen the boys with either shirts or shoes on. And the girls never wore shoes either. There has been some concerning "aggressive" behavior in the past - and the nonchalant tossing off of the "dogs ate the kittens" is chilling.
Of course, the fact that THAT didn't send me screaming into the corners concerns me as well. I mean, am I that tolerant of SUCK that it doesn't even shock me anymore?
It just set off the "I gotta call someone on this" - not the "ARGH@~!# I'm going to go over and KEEEEEL THEM" reflex.

Date: 2005-04-15 08:20 pm (UTC)I have a slew of cat rescue groups down this way - it really is almost embarassing. Either I can find someone to foster them, or try to do the job ourselves (dicey) - but if I can find them, I can find them homes. Honest.
