TwoLumps is getting their stuffies from overseas. Okay.

Is there anyone left making stuffies in the US?

By hand, sure.

Did a Google. Scored.

Anyone want to know, I'd like one of the baby coyotes:

She's got a ton of other things twice as adorable.

And checking the cost, it's no more than getting a Steiff or some odd made elsewhere with as much character.

Hey, you want made-with-love-for-you-in-Taiwan, go UFO catching. No problem.

Heh. You ought to see my stuffie collection. I love me some good stuffie.

While i can certainly understand the appeal of those cuties, and of things made by hand (mm, marxist rants from my sociology classes are popping up, now) just out of curiosity, why the opposition to things made in Taiwan? Most taiwanese i know are pretty nice people? ^_^

It's not that - I just have a vauge, uneasy feeling about *everything* being made overseas. Not just the bread-and-butter things like the major appliances, cars and so forth - but even toys? You can't find a toy made in the US anymore?

Not a good sign, methinks.

Ah. one of those generational things i suppose--i don't remember a time when all the toys *weren't* made overseas.

I was raised by people who remember when *everything* was made here - that's how we managed to win WWII - we outproduced everyone else, and don't let anyone tell you differently.

*sighs heavily*

my ex-roommate claims we won by letting the soviets and the germans beat the crap out of each other, and then marching in. But of course, she's russian. ^_^

on the other hand, i imagine that most of the planes, tanks and the like are still built here--which are sort of the opperative pieces for war. (of course, manufacturing certainly worked for the north, thank goodness.)
