Looking at the callendar, I'm going to need supplies for my girly bits while out of town. Lovely.

The guy who inspects my bags tonight when I fly to Oakland is going to have a field day. I've bought a new bag, special for this trip. It's your typical insulated lunch bag -- except this one is big enough to carry a weekend's worth. And it has a pair of stainless steel chopsticks in it. I can just imagine the fun at the x-ray scanners already.

(I'm already wearing shoes I can slip off and on at a moment's notice - and my "Put a Brain in the White House" t-shirt.)

I'm told the hotel has wi-fi access - I'll believe it when I can use it for work. Because, yeah, I'm taking the work laptop with me. Out of the office and out of town for more than 48 hours rule.

*snaps fingers* I need to get a size K crochet hook on my way home. Dang it.

Need to pack all the chargers. *nods nods* Finish packing up the food - and get out of Dodge.

See y'all in SFO for AOD - and if I'm not seeing you there, see you back here in three days!

Lemme know if you want me to bring up a spare K hook (I likely have at least one)...

No trouble. NO trouble at all. Only question would be if you have a preference: Bates or Boye? *g* Or something else? =)

Think about bringing an extra shirt in your carry-on. There are lots of stories of guards deciding to interpret anti bush slogans as protests and pro terror propoganda, and screwing with folks over it.

If you've got a specific example, I'm all ears. I was in ConOps most of the weekend, and could hear most of what was being said.

Con had a very stringent sign policy; you had to have it approved to use it.

Believe me, if someone had an anti-Bush shirt, I think we'd have applauded first.

Not at the cons; at the airports. It's likely different coming in from Canada, where a bunch have been hassled for shirts or buttons or haircuts or what have you. And not just by American Customs, Canadian Customs seems to have signed on to the jackboot thug school of borderguarding too.

I had my "Put a Brain In The White House" t-shirt on (as in, Pinky & the Brain - it's leftover from 1996 campaign), flying up.

I got smirks and compliments.
