They truly 'get it'. I've been in their area, I was visiting near there in 1998. Truly amazing people.

I'm not the least bit surprised. The Amish are a very gentle people. Much as I hate getting behind a buggy on the road, I've never heard anything bad about any of the families and communities around here. And they think we English are a bit nutty anyway.

Finally, proof that there are real Christians out there after all.

This is what real Christians do. Every day, in every town and county, there are real Christians doing good to their enemies.

(Note: this is not the same thing as pacifism.)

I don't see how this has anything to do with the Christian Coalition, though. If I'm not mistaken, they are some kind of political organization.

This is how the poor are to be cared for. Not by gigantic government bureaucracies, but by Christian acts of charity.

THe Amish will not join the armed forces, they will not take up arms against neighbors, they will not even fight to defend themselves at the cost of their faith.

They are brave and pious enough to endure hardships without becoming all they hate.

It sounds like the very definition of pacifism.

There's more today:

Shoot me first.

I can just hear the nutjobs down the street complaining about "how stupid!" that little girl was. Yanno, the ones with the fish and the American flags above the gun rack on the SUV.

So help me, if I hadn't seen it and heard it? I wouldn't be nearly so angry about it.

THe whole "Judge not, that ye be not judged also" thing...kind of makes you think doesn't it? Sadly for most claiming moral highground, the answer is, "nope, not at all"

of course they get it...

don't know if you know this, but way back when the "stuff" that I sell was still legal in the US and marketed by the pharmaceutical companies, guess who they contracted with to process the stuff into a form that it was sold in.

Yup.

The Amish.
