What the - ?
Oct. 4th, 2006 03:43 pmThe Amish have also been reaching out to the family of the gunman, Charles Carl Roberts IV, 32, who committed suicide during the attack. Dwight Lefever, a Roberts family spokesman, said an Amish neighbor comforted the Roberts family hours after the shooting and extended forgiveness to them.
"I hope they stay around here and they'll have a lot of friends and a lot of support," Daniel Esh, a 57-year-old Amish artist and woodworker whose three grandnephews were inside the school during the attack, said of the Robertses.
Huntington, the authority on the Amish, predicted they will be will be very supportive of the killer and his wife, "because judgment is in God's hands: `Judge not, that ye be not judged."
Suck on that, "Christian" Coalition.
It's not mentioned in this article, but this also appears to extend to including Robert's widow and surviving children in funds raised by the community to help out with funeral and other expenses incurred as a result of this tragedy.
I gotta go visit these guys. They get it.

I don't see how this has anything to do with the Christian Coalition, though. If I'm not mistaken, they are some kind of political organization.
This is how the poor are to be cared for. Not by gigantic government bureaucracies, but by Christian acts of charity.

Date: 2006-10-05 03:03 am (UTC)THe Amish will not join the armed forces, they will not take up arms against neighbors, they will not even fight to defend themselves at the cost of their faith.
They are brave and pious enough to endure hardships without becoming all they hate.
It sounds like the very definition of pacifism.

Date: 2006-10-05 09:15 pm (UTC)Shoot me first.
I can just hear the nutjobs down the street complaining about "how stupid!" that little girl was. Yanno, the ones with the fish and the American flags above the gun rack on the SUV.
So help me, if I hadn't seen it and heard it? I wouldn't be nearly so angry about it.
