I've got LJ Talk working through Jabber on GAIM here at work. This, I know, is asking for it. If people don't respect the "I'M WORKING" sign I constantly have up, I can make changes....

[livejournal.com profile] shadesong, Jim brought home the third X-Men flick. I watched it - wow. What an interesting movie with Wolverine in it - and nobody else I recognized. If they wanted to make sure they never had to make another X-Men movie, this was the way to do it - no worries.

That said - the production values were top-notch, wonderful performances were turned in - and I'm pretty sure I know why folks were so absolutely livid within the first twenty minutes of the film. On the shelf with you!

That hotel surplus store I got the wonderful pieces from this summer? Is moving. They're going to Van Nuys - but not before they empty the warehouse downtown. You got it - the fire sale to end all fire sales. You're local, you ought to go look. Go look at the lamps - the clearance email says they are marking them down to $2 a pop. Expect everything else to be as deeply discounted. Seriously. Going to be doing the studio apartment thang while in school? How would you like to put your television and stereo in the same piece as your dresser? Go look -

*sigh* I will go. And look at the dishes. That's all. Promise. Okay, okay - the lamps intrigue me too. No more furniture. Don't have another place to put another piece. Well, not yet. I'd have to store it until the five year plan begins - and - and - and.

NO WOW. NO BPAL. NO HOTEL OUTLET SHOPPING. Wait. I need mugs for Christmas presents. Okay - I'm going. Sometime soon. Like, maybe next weekend. I'll be good.

The boss came in this morning and showed me his new handy-dandy lunchbox, and hemp shopping bags - check this out. (It also comes in black, blue, red and orange):

Then he showed me his sandwich - wrapped in one of these. (Look under hemp as a material - you'll get a link to the shopping bags.) I could, like, throw them in the washing machine once a week. And I would imagine a handful of snacky stuff would do as well -

Wonder if this place does wish lists.

Yes, I do believe I need some of this. *nodsnods*

Also - does anyone need shoes? I've got a nifty new means to get them to you for 50% off, but you need to talk to me about it before Friday.

That ought to do it for now - busy busy busy! (And at least, it's a good busy today.)

Can you get toddler shoes?

Absolutely. How old is the kid? (Kids shoes have four size runs, if you include infants...)

She's four. I think the last pair I bought her was a size 8.

"What an interesting movie with Wolverine in it - and nobody else I recognized."

You didn't recognize the Juggernaut? Or Beast? Or Colossus?

Also - I could use a pair of black sneakers. I've tried to get teh not-black ones to fit in my wardrobe and I've taken to wearing the other, black, shoes (which were supposed to be just my nice going-out shoes) instead. :P

Unless someone else needs shoes more than I do. It's not critical.

Also also - should you ever be down my way or I be up your way again, I'd be more than happy to let you shop on my Sam's Club membership, if there's anything you think you might want from there. :)

I'm tellin' you. That movie sucked so hard it sucked the lining right out of my uterus.

As for shoes - the family will need snow boots. Got access to those?

I've got Costco. I want for nothing. *grins*

I saw all those people, sure. Once they opened their mouths, it was all over, I fear, however.

Go out to the website. Find something you like - you can either Jab me or email me - but I may make you come out my way to pick them up. It's been too long!

*looks for her on AIM, etc.*

You know the website, yes? If you do, go out and see if anything meets that criteria - if not, Jab me or AIM me or email me and I'll give details.

Jim's worn our boots in the snow - does that count?

Well, one of these days you have to come down my way. So there. :P

We have different stuff from CostCo, since we're more focused towards small business owners. Never know, you might find something you like.

No Jabber here so I'll toss ya an email.

Dude, I grew up out there. Meanie! (But I do come out there, reasonably often - mostly on my way to the Zoo. Or Mom's house.)

I was just thinking about all the bad old days this morning, driving in to work. Where back in the CB radio days, we had a friend who regaled all he could reach with a mike about "Oscar the 90-lb, Nigger-Eating Cockroach."

Yeah. That's what passed for funny. Sad thing was, Oscar got a whole lotta airtime - and it was funny. If you ignored the racism.

You should come. We have new restaurants for you to try.

me...me me..

Wait WHAT?! omg LOL now you HAVE to explain this one. Racism aside, that's like... classic wtfbbq. So please, please regale me with this tale for my friends are all wondering about Oscar and wish to know where this came from.

I'm sadly immature, I've been LOLing over that for the last 15 minutes XD

Also, I could use shoes. The heels of my Vans snapped in half after 5 years of abuse soooooo all I have are my sandles. Y'know, those Adidas ones with the pokey things that hurt after about 5 minutes of walking on any surface. As nice as they are for the beach and around the house, on a job interview... not so much eh?

Even if I am slowly turning IT as the years go by, I don't want to fit ALL of the stereotypes :(

Look at the specs for LJ talk - see if you can use them with your messenger client (if you have one) - this has been fantastic about getting shoes dealt with, without posting post after post in LJ. Look for me -

My boss wears shorts, t-shirts, a ball cap and tube socks with his sneakers. If that's an IT stereotype, sign me up!

CB radio, in a lot of ways, was like a one-on-one blogging environment - you just had to wait your turn to talk. In retrospect, it was a culture really all its own - I should do a post on it someday.

But Oscar was a real character - think MUSH with only one character and everyone else listening for updates.

That's the one thing I fear, downloading Lj-talk and getting it to work (pretty easily, I suspect). I already spend more time on livejournal than I should, so AIM with livejournal friends would completely ruin my grades.

Maybe around Christmas. =P
