Okay, I think the homestudy is done.

And really, if I develop a complex about people always trying to find something 'wrong' with me, I think I know where to look for the cause...don't you?

That's their job - that's their job. Just gotta remember that.

*blows air* Hey, you guys with kids? Did you have to get fingerprinted before you had kids?

I've been fingerprinted four times, been evaluated by two...maybe three different social workers...attended more classes, spun my spiel more times than I care to relate...spent a whole lotta money and time trying to convince a number of people that I'm dead normal, no threat and OMG I'M GETTING TIRED OF THIS.

*pants*

Don't tell me about the assisted reproduction stuff. I could have wasted a whole lot more time and money there before wasting all this time and money here. *pats back*

There is a beer in my near future. So help me.

Anyway you chose to go, there would have been obstacles - but most of them wouldn't have involved fingerprints, true.

(Offers you a virtual beer until you can get to the real thing)

It's always like a visit to the proctologist's office - and they do another one on you once the kid's in your arms and a little settled down.

The answer is to keep your eyes on the prize and figure that a lot of people did this before - and most were goofier than you are.

Oy. This fits directly into my rant the other day. It kills me that you're going through this insanity. At least we know there has to be a light at the end of the tunnel. And I can't wait to send you baby toys.

LET'S GO DRINKING TOMORROW!!!
Haru Ulala now has Sake included in their happy hour... that's in addition to the deliciously cold Kirin draft! Muahaha.

It's lunacy. I don't even know if we dare to try, given that our house is unfinished. I would like your serious considered opinion on that; you've been here. What do you think?

And then to add insult to injury, I get lectured by *not* well-meaning friends because I don't rush out to adopt an older child who is profoundly disabled in some way.

Midterm stress nearly killed me. Is it too late to send my shoe request?

I think you should begin. Absolutely. Let them tell you no.

You don't ask, you don't get - in this, like anything else.
