It was a criminal case, involving the refusal to take a chemical test for sobriety at a checkpoint - at least, that's as much as I got, and I'm damn glad I got released.

I did not want to sit on that jury. This was one of those times when Self said "you know too much to be impartial" and I said as much.

Both Jim and I are the kids of ER nurses. Jim still works in hospitals.

I have a ton of directly-related family with substance-abuse issues.

And some dumbass wouldn't take a breath-alyzer or a blood test when he got caught DUI.

Oops. Bias showing.

So glad I can go back to my life and so on - but so help me, I'd rather sit a murder case than one involving intoxicated drivers. Lesson learned for today.

(Of course, I'd be dismissed on a capital case immediately - I'm against the death penalty and won't apply it to anyone.)

Sleep tonight good. Yay.

I did jury duty in Norwalk for the murder trial, Riverside for another murder trial, and Orange County for a few civil cases.
