I really ought to post that .mp3, just because.

Jim lost his keys at work yesterday - he maintains they were stolen. Me, not so sure. When he loads up (add too many tasks, too many insults to the system), he gets absentminded. He has about five pairs of sunglasses - why? He leaves them everywhere. So we just get another pair - and then find the lost pair and add it to the pile.

Big bluff German - Aries, Scorpio rising - Wood Dragon - moon in Virgo. All that fire and dynamics - with the most tender heart on the list. You see everything, right at the surface.

Losing anyone smarts. Trying to be there for everyone at Sis' house Saturday, it got abundantly clear this hit him too.

It took until this morning to find the spare set - but I had to run out and pick him up from work, and then take him back this morning.

Also had unexpected company on Sunday - all to the good, mind - George and Joan came by, and I handed off the old stinkpad hard drive to get the data off it (he took it and the carcas home with him. Bye Bye Stinkpad, so long!), and we had a nice visit. They also got to meet caitlin, and we had veggie burgers together. But I had to scoot people out when I had to go get Jim - I'm afraid all my handles were full at that point.

Brought him home and fed him my veggie corndogs. That's love for you - they're delicious, ready anytime in twenty minutes and only 3 points per.

Now, mind - I'm just as bad. Load me up, and I can't remember phone numbers. That's your indicator. Also, watch for the struggle to remember place or proper names. You can hear the *working* as I scan the database.

But I cheat.

Oh, very yes. I cheat big time.

You will see me place specific things in the same place, every time. Take my shoes off? I will put them in the same place every time, at home. Away from home? You will find them in the closet of the hotel room. Glasses and watch together on the nightstand. I will do it very deliberately - ala X Marks The Spot. I cheat.

I found my spare set of keys quickly. They were on the hook - and I moved them to the lockbox. They were on the hook with all the rest of the keys, including a bunch of spare house keys.

Anal as hell.

My memory is pretty good - but it's not quite photographic, and under stress? Not trustworthy. I know it - and that's just what I do to protect myself from it.

Poor Jim - it sucks to misplace things you really really need. And if they were indeed stolen? Not a nice feeling at all.

I lost my connection last night before I could respond, but I wanted you and Jim to know I'm thinking of you. I'm glad she didn't suffer overmuch, but as you said - losing anyone sucks.

((hugs)) -- as you say, losing anyone hurts.

I cheat exactly the same way. Go into my hotel bathroom and you'll find my meds laid out on the counter in exactly the same order they are at home. Look in my office at work and you'll find my glasses on the same kind of home-made stand I use at home. And so on.

I'm disorganized as all get-out, and my office at a previous job was once declared a fire-hazard because of the piles of magazines, but I can usually find things when I need them, and I can always find the essentials.

My house appears totally disorganized; you know that, you've been here. But there is actually a method to the organization. Kitchen items go back in the same place every single time. I know that there are things which Charles moves from drawer to drawer, looking for a place where they will fit, and I've become accustomed to looking for them. But most stuff? I can tell you blindfolded how to find it.

There's even some (limited) organization to my desk and my computer, but not nearly so much as my kitchen.
