Three books down on the 50 Book Challenge - quickly, the entries:

1. Fix It And Forget It Found in a shopping trip at Vroman's, this came in SO handy when putting a day's worth of meals together for Sis after her MIL passed last weekend. REALLY high in fat (I went through nearly a pound of butter across three meals), so not for everyday use - but for vacation, comfort food? YUM.

2. Inkheart. Finished this one up waiting my turn for jury duty - read a lot like a "want to be Harry Potter but not" children's novel. Also, a bit too grounded in Real Life Grind, and I also found myself casting it for a movie - which I think this story was better suited for. There's a sequel, and I have it - but taking a break for now.

3. He Died In Childbirth. I set myself a goal with this challenge - read stuff I'd never read before. This gets tough, because when I find an author, I tend to read everything - and then get stuck looking for something new. So - I went out to Amazon, put in a search string and got a number of books from it. Just for variety. UMM. Welcome to the first casualty. I should have known I was in trouble when the author's description includes the sentence 'experience battling succubus for four years' as part of his qualifications for writing this book. And it's in its Second Edition! LAWD!

..omg it's awful.

..omg i wrote better fan fic in high school.

..i did.

I could go on and rant for hours - suffice it to say, it's a short book that doesn't do anything but list the rants of one person who got shafted by another one, and the gender biases are never explored past "I'm gonna git you suckah" and worse. The author busts down the 4th wall constantly with exclamations - and UGH. I normally wouldn't consider burning books for any reason, but when the revolution comes, this one will be the first one used to cook my dinner.

I'm reading Seahorse Variations right now - anything to get the previous one scrubbed out of the mind. (Someone got PAID for that. MERDE.)
