I went up to see my CERT leader here at work and was properly outfitted with a little red pack that goes in my purse that has, among many other things, gloves.

*taps chin* Though I still think I'd have to dig too long to get to them in a real pinch - going to go surf up some better alternatives. Things I can stick in my pocketses.

[livejournal.com profile] lostboydv, go visit [livejournal.com profile] machupicchu - if you can get through his word count. I've been reading him for years, and found him through [livejournal.com profile] julesong (and [livejournal.com profile] julesgone!) - delightful. Ascerbic. Immediate. Many other things -

[livejournal.com profile] divalea, have you read [livejournal.com profile] cedarseed yet? She's got a lovely character she's working on - you'd dig her.

Keeping things cool and quiet here at work - it's a big bug-out due to vacations right now, so I'm keeping an eye on a number of things I normally don't give a second thought to. It's odd - and boring, to be blunt.

Weekend a blast - I truly enjoy Nisei Week so. Really will give thought to contacting the LTSC about next year's Tofu Festival (probably once [livejournal.com profile] catsonmars gets back - I need two heads for this one) - without seating or any overhead shade, it really got difficult to do that event comfortably. It just needs a tweak here and there. I'd hate to see it close over this sort of a change, really would.

Don't want to look at the checkbook. Grr. Will have to today, sometime. Grr.

Ziploc freezer bags are your friends. Stick a pair or two of nitrile or vinyl gloves in a freezer bag, and you can keep a pair safe in your pocket, bag, or whatever. Or use one of those home vacuum pack thingies if you've got one to bag up some pairs of gloves. Works for other emergency supplies as well.

Good idea... t'other one I had was if one's purse had an outside pocket...

I used to carry some stuff like that in the outside pouch of my backpack. I don't anymore; my training's so far out of date I'd probably be dangerous... but there it was, where I could get at it PDQ...

Good point on nitrile/vinyl gloves. Lots of folks are sensitive to latex...

The issue for me is getting the one or two pair I'd actually need. I could ask Jim to acquire a couple pair from time to time, I guess.

Did think of the ziplock bag thingie, but I want even smaller. Think pocketwatch on fob-size. Something I could hang from a belt-loop or such.

Hmm. Methinks I might just have something there....

Well, it looks like Mister Charles may have gotten himself a new job, and at a company large enough that our health issues won't be more than a little blip on the radar screen. They asked him for a background check on Friday, and they don't do that unless they are really serious, so we expect an offer soon.

Thought that would jazz up your Monday. We are not putting this about in public much yet, just to people who know us F2F.

I think I have a spare keyfob pouch (with one-way CPR shield) in my glovebox (get a new one every time I recertify) - if you'd like one, send my your snail-mail addy.

You know, Sis has one of those things - I should take a closer look at it and make one for gloves. The airway shield just doesn't matter as much to me.

I have a wee Red Cross bright orange nylon pouch containing a CPR rebreather valve mask thingie. I think I shall see if I can shove at least one glove in it as well.

A change purse can often be converted to a keyfob sort of deal, and holds gloves just fine.

I keep a box of nitriles under the sink for hair dye and housecleaning, myself. But I'm allergic to latex, too.

Having Jim bring some home is also a valid option; a bio lab monkey I know used to bring boxes of the purple ones from her workplace as donations to the safer sex giveaways.
